Chad Oppenheim Working On Design District Retail Building For Dacra

Architect Chad Oppenheim could finally be getting a project built in the Design District.

Developer Dacra is proposing a small retail building at 4039 NE 42st Avenue, designed by Oppenheim. ADD Inc is listed as an associate architect.

The proposal, known as Stardust East, faces UDRB review next week.

Oppenheim’s office is in the Design District. He had once designed an environmentally friendly residential tower in the Design District called Cor that featured wind-powered electric turbines. It was never built.

Nice design. Oppenheim has been very quiet these pass few years. Hopefully we will see more of these creative designs.

I always liked Oppenheim’s COR tower design, it would look fantastic and fit right in with the many edgy designs in the area. I feel like the Miami Design District lacks presence from 195. It needs some type of iconic structure or sign to let the thousands of locals and visitors that drive by every single day that it exists, the current wall painted sign is pretty lame and not representative of the district at all…
