Google Fiber Is Now In Miami After Buying Webpass

Google Fiber last week closed on the purchase of Webpass, an internet provider that operates in Miami.

Webpass currently offers service at select condo buildings in Miami, Miami Beach and Coral Gables. Speeds range from 100mbps to 1gbps.

Miami leaders have been hoping for widespread Google Fiber deployment in the area. The company has announced that Tampa is a part of expansion plans, with one analyst saying Miami is among the most logical expansion points.

Comcast and AT&T still have a near duopoly on internet service in the Miami Area. Both are among America’s most hated companies.

Comcast is a riot literally. Went in one of their offices a while back for a service problem and was shocked to find a long line of pissed off customers and three security guards deployed to keep the peace.

Same thing happened to me. I went in and while waiting in line, some old dude came in and starting yelling! Talking about how this *#&$%#*$! was always so damn busy and how slow the people working there were. LOL. It was a complete zoo! Sadly my building only has Comcast so I guess I am stuck with them for now.

I can’t wait to drop Comcast. Right now they have the fastest internet. But the service is the worst and the prices are outrageous after your introductory rate expire. Google Fiber can’t come fast enough…

The download speed is impressive but the upload speed is insane.

I have Webpass and love it. Hoping Google will spread the love throughout more of Miami and beyond. Time for Comcast/At&T to step it up, or get left in the dustbin of history.

Google Fiber only acquired this company that provides service to certain areas in Miami. It is still not a given Google Fiber is looking to bring Fiber here until they officially name Miami as a Potential Google Fiber City on their website. Until then, I urge all here to show your interest in Google Fiber by going to https://fiber.google.com/about/ and entering your home address and e-mail address. This is a good way to show Google Fiber the type of interest there is for Google Fiber in Miami.
