1010 Brickell Announces Historic Concrete Pour
MIAMI – April 9, 2015 – Developers 13th Floor Investments and Key International are pleased to announce that the long awaited historic concrete pour at 1010 Brickell was successfully executed this past weekend. Crews supervised by Moss & Associates construction poured 530 truckloads of concrete in 12 hours for the 1010 Brickell condominium project in the heart of one of America’s most densely-populated neighborhoods.
Starting at 2 a.m. Saturday, April 4, cement trucks hauled a total of 5300 cubic yards of concrete, pouring each 10-cubic-yard load every 1.6 minutes. The trucks lined up eight at a time with police escorts four blocks south, picking up their loads and rotating from four in South Miami, Midtown, North Miami, and Sweetwater.
“This was certainly one of our company’s biggest pours, and one of the largest in the neighborhood,” said Stephen D. Chang, project executive for Moss. “I cannot think of such a big pour in such a small, dense area surrounded so closely on all sides. It was an impressive logistical feat and performed on target.”
“The concrete pour marks a significant milestone for our project,” explains Rey Melendi, Chief Operating Officer of 13th Floor Investments. “We are excited to see our residential development going vertical and to see our vision of building 1010 Brickell finally coming to fruition.”
By Monday morning, crews were walking on the nine-foot-thick cured concrete and the vertical steel for the sheer walls and columns were already being placed, launching the development’s vertical phase.
1010 Brickell, a 387-unit, 47-story tower, developed by Key International and 13th Floor Investments, catacorner from Mary Brickell Village, broke ground in September, with completion scheduled for the first quarter of 2017.
