Lot Being Cleared At The Site Of 520-Room Galwan Hotel In Brickell

Construction may be finally about to begin at what is set to become the biggest hotel in Brickell.

On December 7, contractors pulled a permit to begin pile work for the 48-story hotel. The site is also now being cleared.

Brazilian developer Galwan has approved plans to build a 520-room hotel. They have previously said that it would carry the Ibis flag.

No balconies! This is a nice change

We can do balconies right. Look at Conrad. Here in Asia many buildings use sunroom type balconies which can be opened or closed to give it a no balcony look.

An Ibis hotel is a good fit for Miami. They are very popular oversees and will fill a need for the budget traveler to Miami.

For people saying this is going to be a “Budget” hotel, think again…

The plans state for both Mid-scale and Upscale Branded hotel rooms.

520 (split 266 / 254) rooms on such a small lot is an interesting choice. That puts the average size of the hotel room at roughly 320 SF…

If anybody who has ever been to the peabody in Memphis, TN with their ducks, this hotel should really think about bringing back the street chickens. It would totally stick out and be memorable for tourists, especially with the roosters at 4 am

Just glad to see all the chickens are finally gone, make it happen!

We need more chickens around Brickell. Keeps the Miami flavor, and the vultures well fed. Also, it gives our local Santeros a steady supply of offerings!

Lol, even I have to give you thumbs up for that.

A boring box with ugly cladding that looks like Doritos. I wouldn’t mind the empty lot with chickens for several more months until the developers come back with something that isn’t shit.
