Resorts World Proposes Hotel & Apartments Above Omni Bus Terminal

Resorts World has won preliminary approval to redevelop the Omni Metromover and bus terminal.

Miami-Dade issued an RFP for the 1-acre property, and received just one response.

Resorts World has preliminary plans for a 300-room hotel and residential serviced apartments above, but is not obligated to any one type of development by the lease. The company will also redevelop the ground floor with new transportation hub and retail.

Construction must begin within four years, a Dade transportation official has said, according to the Herald.

The lease runs for 90 years with an additional 25 year option, and is worth $55m over the life of the deal. County Commissioners will have a final vote on the lease in April.

The city should do, help and encourage Genting with this project.
The area looks pathetic the way it does now and that bus terminal which is the changing point between Miami and the Beach is horrific. The city would benefit from the changing image this project would bring to the table.

The County is… Look at the contract.

Great proposal and it sounds like it would provide a makeover to the Omni Metromover station. I am all for that.

Beautiful development and need in the area, well done Genting! Hopefully the other parts of their project will be as special.

Apparently they don’t learn.. First 4 years is way to long to allow construction. I wonder how the contract specifics construction. I’m sure that Resorts has great lawyers and got the much better end of the bargain.

Just look at Jungle Island and the City of Miami. Almost 15 years and just a super yacht marina. Public good. Yeah right.

doubt they can build a Tower like this parallel to the tracts without shearwalls…..none shown in the renderings.

Why is Resorts World allowed to build this project? They have no experience with transportation, especially buses. Yes, they had their super fast boat but that didnt even work out and is now not operational. Same old city politics giving the project to someone with no transportation experience…
