Miami’s Planning, Zoning and Appeals Board upheld a city staff decision to approve a 61-story apartment tower at 1111 Brickell Bay Drive.
An appeal had been filed by the owner of nearby Panorama Tower and the operator of a hotel planned inside Panorama, challenging several waivers. The appeals were denied, and all of the waivers were upheld.
Most of the board members agreed that the city was correct in allowing setback waivers to be granted. The board voted 7-1 to reject that appeal.
A waiver to reduce parking was much more contentious, with some board members arguing that more spaces are needed. The board deadlocked in a 4-4 vote, thus upholding the city approval.
