1111 Brickell Bay Drive Approval Upheld

Miami’s Planning, Zoning and Appeals Board upheld a city staff decision to approve a 61-story apartment tower at 1111 Brickell Bay Drive.

An appeal had been filed by the owner of nearby Panorama Tower and the operator of a hotel planned inside Panorama, challenging several waivers. The appeals were denied, and all of the waivers were upheld.

Most of the board members agreed that the city was correct in allowing setback waivers to be granted. The board voted 7-1 to reject that appeal.

A waiver to reduce parking was much more contentious, with some board members arguing that more spaces are needed. The board deadlocked in a 4-4 vote, thus upholding the city approval.

More parking?!?

Brickell cannot support any more cars, look at the gridlock that lasted for hours last evening.

Leave your car in the garage and walk or take public transportation.. you will probably arrive faster.

That gridlock was for the rain and still today they ( politicians) had the nerve to say we need to aprove another bond in November elections to have money so they can improved the brickell imfrastructure , like we ( brickell owners) don’t pay billions on taxes already

A tax on gridlock would fix that problem easily.

Look, me and my ilk can use that convenient Metromover throughout Brickell, but, we didn’t pay all that money for our BMW’s and Benz’s to look cool riding the Metromover. We paid and pay all that money for our european cars to be seen in them!!!

The way Miami is laid out, it wouldn’t surprise me at all if over half these future Brickell apartment dwellers have to drive at least 5 miles to work. Many will probably be working in Doral or around MIA. Hence the need for a car.

Hopefully they’re putting in bicycle lanes and wide sidewalks.. that area is becoming very dense.

Yeah, put in some bicycle lanes there, these ignorant drivers in Miami need more targets to aim at.

Good one! More likely narrower side-walks to accommodate another automobile travel lane.
