Faena Forum, the 50,000-square-foot arts center designed by Rem Koolhaas, is set to open in December of this year, the New York Times reported.
Developer Alan Faena told the paper that the project is estimated to cost $150 million. The high amount of investment in the arts center only made sense as a part of the $1 billion Faena District Miami Beach project, Faena said.
The building itself is inspired by Rome’s Pantheon and features an oculus-topped dome. It is designed to be flexible, but will mostly host performance art.
Local performers will inaugurate the facility in December. It will also host the contemporary ballet ‘Tree of Codes,’ and a debate series.
