24-Story Excel Miami Continues Rising

Excel Miami, a 24-story apartment complex under construction near the Arsht Center, is quickly rising.

As of last week, construction of the building’s shell appears to have passed the podium garage levels, moving towards the typical residential floors.

Shell construction tends to accelerate once buildings reach their typical residential floors.

Excel will have 427 apartments, with a total of 214,183 rentable square feet.

Amenities will include a pool, yoga deck, fitness room, co-working space, screening room, and podcast suites.

The Metromover School Board Station is a short distance away.

Arquitectonica is the architect.

Clearline Real Estate is the developer.

Arts & Entertainment District

Hopefully some urban planning is used to try to make this area the entertainment district to compliment some of the nearby attractions like the Adrienne Arsht Center. Would help make the neighborhood stand out rather than a random collection of mid rise apartments

Good urban planning left this area ten years ago when the CRA was gutted, and Melo filled every other lot with a box atop a parking podium. Even this building makes Melo buildings look alright.

Lip stick on a pig. This is a creative solution that is executed artistic flair but still it’s a bulky ugly box … can’t hide that – miami is becoming a soulless landscape of bloated boxes

It’s obvious we can identify the designers of this project. I guess now the dancing balconies are replaced by big square grids.

Is this what Arquitectonica has envisioned for the A&E District close to the Arscht Center and the signature bridge? What a missed opportunity to showcase their design aesthetic.

Along with the geriatric ghett0 above Target and Downtown 5th, this has to be one of the worst looking buildings I’ve seen for quite some time.
