$2B Mixed-Use Development Announced In Midtown Miami

Plans to develop a vacant site in Midtown Miami have been announced, including a tower by Proper Hospitality.

The new $2 billion mixed-use development will be set on 5 acres where Walmart once planned a store that was never completed.

It will include lush open areas, including two public parks and pedestrian paseos, connecting Midtown to the Design District and Wynwood.

There will also be over 120,000 square feet of prime retail with gourmet restaurants and cafes, designer shops, office buildings, and a public 8-court racquet & padel club.

The first 28-story tower on the property known as Midtown Park Residences by Proper was also announced today, with 288 branded residences.

Residents will have access to over 40,000 square feet of amenities, and access to concierge services including housekeeping and laundry, as well as pet care and home maintenance while owners are away.

The new tower is being developed by Proper, Rosso Development and Midtown Development.

Prices for units range from low $700,000’s to $2.7 million. There will also be penthouses with 20-foot ceilings, private rooftop terraces, gardens, and private pools.

Completion is planned in 2028.

Arquitectonica, Meyer Davis Studio, and Naturalficial are designing the new tower.

Proper Hospitality, Rosso Development and Midtown Development are the developers. Proper is redeveloping the Shelborne hotel in South Beach, which is set to reopen this spring.

Completion of the first tower is planned in 2028.

I’d think “He” has better things to do than listen to prayers of gratitude about urban development.

Looks amazing overall.. but still no plans to connect Midtown/Wynwood to Downtown. Traffic here is already at a crawl I cant imagine how much worse it can get with this new development. We needed a MM or Metrorail connection years ago. Where will they have space for this now?

No plans to connect?

Last weekend, I was in Midtown/Wynwood and Downtown among other places. I was perfectly connected. What are you talking about??

Oohhhhh…..I get it.

You want other people to buy you 3 or 5 different $70M government train stations otherwise you do not feel “connected”.

The bus isn’t good enough for you?

Anonymous

It’s disconnected completely. It feels like driving to Yonkers. Can’t wait for the Tri Rail station to open up.

Can’t wait for you to read up on how Tru Rail will likely cease to exist in a couple years.

Oh….okay. So my eyes, ears, brain are playing tricks on me.

Or maybe, I’m a SUPERHUMAN!

Somehow I have mastered the impossible task of moving in the city.
Perhaps, I am a bionic man, or someone blessed with some crazy intergalactic chemical that allows me to run multiple errands, eat lunch, meet friends and make it back from a “disconnected completely” place.

Or….maybe it is only “disconnected completely” ONLY for those challenged with the things that most people find simple.

(PS. Don’t key my Tesla there boy genius.)

other people? you mean our taxes which were pledged years ago to expand public transit and never happened? You need a reality check

John Duns Scotus

You voted for that!?!?!
Sucker!

I voted no. To anyone who would listen, I said, “Vote NO….these politicians, when shown an account with money, will take it and put it in the general fund”.

Wow…those government bureaucrats and the politicians sure can spot a sucker from a mile away.

This project looks FANTASTIC! Especially with the expansive windows, wide walking spaces, lush landscaping, and overall great use of space. Should be very accommodating as a gathering space for this particular section of town.

its the liner units, this is exactly what I’ve been preaching!

Very easy to do on a 5 acre site surrounded by streets on all 4 sides.

But you’ve been preaching for this on sites that don’t make sense.

They don’t own the 29th street frontage which is the most important parcel

This looks like a copy of the two towers going up in Brickell on SW 2nd Avenue.

Mercedes-Benz Places by JDS with the scalloped balconies—and the new Kobi Karp across the avenue with the wood ceilings.

Anon

Do you think Kobi Karp is the first architect to put wood panels on the cieling? lmao

Suppose it’s a coincidence this mirrors the two designs on the same block in Brickell?

To think this was almost just a big old Walmart!
This is a beautifully master planned design, Garage is basically almost fully concealed. Tier layers at the base.
Great Retail frontage with green space, wide sidewalks for Restaurants etc. Popular amenities.
I’m impressed.
This is what the Witkoff Groups design at the old Miami Arena should look like, instead of the crappy one they went with. (Funny enough they are almost the exact same size. @ 200k SF)

Let’s keep the same energy regarding hiding the garages for all new developments. Tons of projects with large lots where they are still not adding liner units. Prime example is the Cipriani tower complex. Massive lot!!

Are you creating an army of blog commentators to harness the power of whining to influence men who actually build skyscrapers??

Great idea…you have found your purpose.

Real Talk Ryan

Well, maybe those men like it? I mean after all we represent the consumer.

🙂 Nice RTR!
If you think the commenters here begging for liner units in every single building are going to account for more than 0.003% of the sales in this building (or neighborhood), I’d be shocked.

Anonymous

Yes this is necessary – should be in Miami 25.

I like how the boning is done thoughtfully, so the main structure looks like a cutout, so many buildings put this thick unfinished boning that looks like it serves no purpose and just glued on a design

This is the piece that will really connect Midtown and Wynwood together. I hope they make a nice park in the middle strip of the land that’s left. Really need a standout park around all this shopping and retail will really put the cherry on top. With offices close I can see a lot of ppl moving here verse Brickell.
