36-Story 2000 Biscayne Inks Utilities Deal For 393 Apartments, Groundbreaking Next Month

Developer Kushner Companies has signed a deal to bring utilities to a 36-story tower they plan at 2000 Biscayne, and announced a groundbreaking date.

The utilities agreement revises an earlier one signed for the same project in 2019.

According to the new agreement, 2000 Biscayne will include:

  • 393 apartments
  • 4,569 square feet of retail
  • 1,350 square feet of office
  • 455 parking spaces (not included in the utilities agreement)

Groundbreaking will take place on June 17, the developer told the SFBJ.

The developer will also break ground on an additional two towers at 1900 Biscayne across the street in early 2021, with an additional 756 apartments.

In total, 1,149 apartments in three towers will be under construction at the two sites by this next year.

I wish they would design a building with some character. They all look alike. So boring.

Agree. No imagination. Character in design doesn’t always have to equate to more expensive.

Geezz… the other design was poo pooed on, now this design gets trashed.

I guess some people in this city love to complain just for the sake of complaining.

Omni needs a serious revamp from its 70s theme…

The whole area has so many empty, wasted lots. Unfortunately, this could take decades to develop. Even around Arscht Center, so many empty lots.
Shameful, while every inch of suburban areas are packed with development. No wonder, this is a car centric city

You do realize that it takes time to do large scale developments like this? Developers are spending 100s of millions on these jobs which are mostly financed so its a huge risk for them if it fails. you gotta buy the land, develop plans on what you want to build, get approvals from the city, find the financing and then construct. Thats a lot of work before going vertical and finishing the building itself

Don’t cry for me Argentina.
Taking risks is what developers do for a living. Not to mention that he bought that chunk of prime real state property with the help of Rick Scott who designed it as part of the Opportunity Zone scam, pushed by his daddy in law.

No scam, just two real estate developers and a town built on real estate.

Seems like a great location for a casino. Between the Miami Herald properties, Omni and School Board properties, that’s three potential sites for Vegas/Macau style casinos. All of the other properties in the area are too small for that kind of development.

Anonymous

It’s a terrible location for a casino, everything around it is residential.

Anonymous

Great. Then the residents can walk there. Better yet, as the preferred mode of operation of the trolls here…they can bike to the casinos.

There’s an Opera House, Ballet Hall, NBA arena, art museum, science museum, and several night clubs within half a mile of the Omni. One of the satellite sites for the Miami international boat show is also like a block away and there are plans for a new convention center to be built about 0.75 miles away. It’s called the Arts & Entertainment District for a reason.

All the things you mention are a half mile or further south of this site. The immediate area is residential, retail/restaurant or cemetery.
It’s academic anyway since this is going to be residential.

What happened to the building proposed to sit on top of the church? And the one next to Plaza Venetia on the corner lot? And the one over the bus terminal next to OMNI? Or the tall one on Biscayne one block north from the Arsht Center with the big white head sculpture in the corner…Auberge? If every proposed building announced by TNM were to have been built, Miami would be a megalopolis rivaling NYC or Chicago.

Anonymous

Ehhhh… maybe Chicago, but not New York City. It’ll take at least fifty years of non-stop highrise construction in Miami for it to even think about coming close to rivaling NYC.

Anonymous

Miami should n’t try to rival Ny City when it comes to skyscrapers. those mammoth buildings overshadow everything and turn cities into intimidating concrete jungles. the NYC skyline is so congested that the new skyscrapers go unnoticed. Miami should build just a few more skyscrapers,if they build too many more miami would lose it’s charm

Anonymous

So that’s why millions of tourist visit NYC every year, they wanna get “intimidated” by the skyscrapers there?

Gee, you’re so smart….

Anonymous

are you telling me the only attraction in NYC is huge rows of skyscrapers? Gee, you are so smart. let me remind you that NYC has broadway, great restaurants, many museums iconic places, upscale shopping and lots of culture and most people go to enjoy these amenities

And this year thanks to defund the police , NYC has 200% increase in crime … something tourists don’t like at all ! 👀🙄

Anonymous

Even though what you wrote isn’t true, one thing we do know is this.. no police were killed and injured like cops were when the Capitol Building in Washington DC got stormed, and tourist were also visiting the city at that time.

^ Did you say:

“Miami should n’t try to rival Ny City when it comes to skyscrapers. those mammoth buildings overshadow everything and turn cities into intimidating concrete jungles”

And then right after that say:

“the NYC skyline is so congested that the new skyscrapers go unnoticed”

Look up the word “CONTRIDICTION,” because I think you’re really confused.

Miami 300+ high rises and 44 skyscrapers. Chicago 1315 high rises and 119 skyscrapers. New York 6180 highrises and 911 skyscrapers. Miami still has a way to go.

Miami has 58 skyscrapers in downtown miami and that does not include 12 skyscrapers in sunny isles

By serious revamp, you mean wiped off the face of the Earth and starting anew? The only thing uglier with worse street interaction is a Melo building.

Anonymous

Really, the Melo buildings have ugly street interaction? I guess you don’t do much driving on the streets of Miami.. do you?
