39-Story Edgewater Tower With Whole Foods Supermarket Passes Level 6

In Edgewater, the Nema apartment tower has passed level 6 of construction, according to architect ODP.

It will be the first Whole Foods supermarket in the Midtown Miami/Edgewater area.

Nema’s first phase is planned to rise 39 stories, or 430 feet and include:

  • 588 apartments
  • 42,030 square foot Whole Foods supermarket
  • 748 parking spaces (195 for Whole Foods customers)

A second phase of Nema is also planned with another 400 apartments.

ODP is the architect of record, with Arquitectonica the design architect.

Crescent Heights is the developer.

The estimated completion date is summer 2024, ODP wrote.

Surprised they’re not doing both towers at the same time.

This can’t come soon enough. We need more options than just Publix.

We need a Whole Food at Miami Worldcenter, and a Trader Joe’s too. Every new building brings almost 1,000 new residents to the area and there are new buildings popping up at a great speed.

yeah 1000 temporary residents of the airbnbs…or part timers who live half the year in new yoirk so they can claim the tax benefits down here…..grocery stores like trader joes and wholefoods wont want to build to close to their own stores as to prevent store to store cannibalisation on revenue and margins

Yeah.. and all those “1000 temporary residents of the airbnbs…or part timers who live half the year in new yoirk” will in unison, travel to Miami and in unison, drive around in Edgewater at the same time.

You guys should write and direct scary movies because you sure can scare the shit out of people with those scary scenarios.

Nice design by Arquitectonica with excellent execution by ODP as usual

You must be kidding. The fact ODP was involved with this doesn’t change the fact it’s another cluttered and unpleasing Arqutectonica box.

why not have ODP design? the element of Arquitectonica makes it very pedestrian.

What’s with Whole Foods Market choosing the worst looking buildings in Miami? Even Monarc looks somewhat better than this box with a giant a**crack down the middle of the facades.

I think this one looks way better than Monarc.

>>> 748 parking spaces

LOL. And people complain now about traffic in edgewater

Anonymous

They must extend the Metromover then so people will only use those cars when getting out of town.

Anonymous

LOL, implying people enough people use a dinky low-capacity shortbus to go to limited places and will somehow have an impact on traffic.

Anonymous

I guess we should all just drive around in traffic in a “little dinky low-capacity car” like you then?

Anonymous

^at least in your own car you’re not stuck on the shortbus shoulder to shoulder with Crackhead Carlos and Shitpants Steve.

Anonymous

Nah.. you’re just risking your life getting killed in a car crash by “Crackhead Carlos and Shitpants Steve” while driving in traffic in your little “Tin Can Car.”

anonymous

Oh my! Well I guess we all just ought to ride Metromover then. I don’t want to get killed dead in a car crash. Maybe Shitpants Steve is really a good travel companion after all.

Anonymous

Metromover, the elevated beer can pitting you shoulder to shoulder with bums that is as reliable as a 1960s Jaguar but without the looks and fun to drive factor. No, there are no expansion plans, so either deal with the traffic and congestion that being in the center of a city brings or move somewhere less congested like Coral Springs.

Small little tin can cars on the road carrying around loudass hollering little kids while dodging bicycles in traffic. And the nightmare scenario only gets worse as the days, weeks, months and years go by. Gee I wish these elected officials in Miami would get a clue about expanding something simple like the Metromover throughout Wynwood, the Design District and Edgewater so at least some us could avoid this shit!

actually they might need more parking-some for the residents, the shoppers at the whole foods and the employees–that whole foods gonna employ about 200 people which a good chunk will drive

I prefer public transit

Is actually less than 1 parking space per apartment. If you take out the 195 for Wholefoods and another 20 to 30 parking spaces for the building staff.

Anonymous

Yeah, 748 parking spaces. That means that during the time those cars are parked, the people who owns them are not driving around.

Nope, clearly stated ARQ was design architect and ODP is architect of record.

whole foods has a very odd growth strategy too often based upon the competition versus them actually seeing growing market options..they only reason they are moving on this project with some speed is because trader joes moving into the neighborhood…same with the second store on the beach…

Anonymous

Yea what happened to the plan to build a new Whole Foods on Alton and dade

pork rinds

its being done at alton and lincoln where that wells fargo used to be…wholefoods seems to think that is a good corner for business and that they will put trader joes out of business….
