427-Unit Excel Miami To Break Ground In Months, Contractor Named

Shawmut Design and Construction has announced it is partnering on the Excel Miami apartment project, with groundbreaking to take place in months.

Miami Building Department records show that Shawmut was added as the contractor on the project’s construction permit on September 20. The permit remains in review as of this morning.

Excel Miami is planned to include approximately 338,000 square feet in 24 stories, with:

  • 424 residential units (of which 216 will be micro-units)
  • 128 parking spaces spread over four levels of garage

The development site is a transit-friendly location, located around the corner from the School Board Metromover station.

Arquitectonica is the design architect. Leo A Daly is the architect of record.

Shawmut is a $1.3 billion employee-owned national construction management firm.

The developer is Clearline, which is a 100% woman-owned company, headquartered in New York and Miami. Clearline has around 1,200 multifamily units currently in its pipeline for Miami.

Good! Great to see the northern most border of the RTZ metro Miami core getting more density.

Beautiful. Very modern looking. Much better than other buildings around. I like the size too.

Comparing crap to Melo. Even Canvas EXCELS over all those buildings combined, and it’s a box with a slight curve.

Very cute building. This neighborhood is actually going to be nice – a block away from the Underdeck Park and a block away from the Arscht Center – also transit adjacent.

About as cute as it is transit oriented.

I’ve seen changes after groundbreaking, so it’s not too late to go taller… and a better design for that matter!

Looks good. Should be taller but it sure adds density and improves walkability so it’s great.
