53-Story The Edge On Brickell Will Include Hotel, Condos

In Brickell, the new owner of The Edge has submitted a revised proposal for the project.

Plans call for a 53-story tower with 17 levels of hotel space and 25 levels of condo units, instead of devoting the entire building to condos. In total, there will be 200 hotel rooms and 70 condo units.

A rooftop restaurant and lounge will be located on level 53. The building will top out at 627 feet above ground.

Architect Kobi Karp presented the plans to the Miami River Commission Urban Infill & Greenways Subcommittee on April 22. Leo Macedo of Brazil is the developer.

They are trying to get a variance to reduce the required 13′ Bay walk to only 3’10″… Not so stunning. How will we ever get a city wide bay walk if everyone gets to cut into it like Bayfront Park?

You serious?

Unfortunately yes…. from “Miami Today” issue from last week of April 28, page 17. “The greenway’s width is 13 feet: 8 feet of sidewalk and 5 feet of landscaping, benches, etc. The newest plan would eat into those improvements in a big way, with the narrowest portion being 3 feet 11 inches of nothing but sidewalk.”

Do the renderings show an automated parking garage? For a hotel? Is anyone else concerned with the parking?

What’s the clouded area on the right, is half the building invisible?

This building will never get built. It is just looking to see if there is an attraction to its proximity to Brickell City Center. Let be realistic and put something there that fits WITH the proper river walk width.

Why do people think a condo building that’s mostly empty because they people that own it don’t even live in it full time will bring so Much traffic that is will be a traffic nightmare?

This building is crap. Nobody builds buildings like me. Believe me. This is just an example of the architects that run the city. Kick ’em out and deport them!
