New 580-Foot Hotel Planned At Genting’s Resorts World Omni

Resorts World appears to be moving forward with new development at their massive Miami property.

Yesterday (February 28), an application was submitted to the FAA to build a hotel at Resorts World’s Omni property at 1501 Biscayne Boulevard.

The hotel will rise 580 feet above ground, according to the proposal.

At that height, the hotel would be about double the size of the 28-story Hilton Miami Downtown currently located at the same property. The Hilton was originally built in 1978 as an Omni hotel, and includes 527 rooms.

This is the second FAA application submitted by Resorts World in as many months. In January, the company submitted plans for three towers on the former Miami Herald site.

I’m guessing it will go on the NW corner of the property since Genting has spent millions refurbishing the office space and the Hilton is pretty busy…

This would be great news if they move forward on it. Would they knock down the existing Hilton hotel and everything else on the property?

Most likely the JCpenny side will be demolished, which is ashamed since i had hope the omni shops idea would come back

Fantastic.. the north side of the Omni along Biscayne Blvd. could certainly use the restoration.. welcomed project!

I bought my first condo at the Venetia when I was 27 and the view out of my balcony was the Miami Herald. Happy to hear this whole area is improving and moving forward.

Maybe they’re demo’ing the Northwest corner of that lot as it’s a brutalist eyesore these days.

yes, I am aware of the address, the address is one of about 7 that represents the whole property from 17th to 15th. 1501 is being remodeled as we speak and the North part of the mall has been closed and gutted for years.

I disagree with you. The Hiltons address is 1601. 1501 I still believe will be southwest corner
