60-Story Paramount Miami Worldcenter Tower Shows Off 700-Foot LED Lighting System For Super Bowl

Downtown Miami’s Paramount Miami Worldcenter tower took the opportunity over Super Bowl weekend to show off a futuristic LED lighting system that has changed Miami’s skyline forever.

In a ceremony last Wednesday, Mayor Francis Suarez and Paramount Developer Daniel Kodsi flipped a switch, activating an animation that displayed the logos and colors of the the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers, who were competing in the big game.

Following the Chiefs win on Sunday night, an animation was shown through the night saluting the team.

Paramount is the seventh tallest building in Miami, but has arguably the best lighting system of any tower in the area.

A $3 million Color Kinetics Animation Lighting System took three years to plan and design, and another ten months to install it, with 12 technicians working on the project.

The system includes 14,300 LEDs that run the length of the 700-foot, 60-story tower. Gavin Cooper, CEO of LED-Smith, Inc. of Delray Beach designed the system.

Paramount says 90 percent of 543 homes and 26 penthouses have been sold, and 10 percent are already occupied (units need to be finished before they can be occupied).

The LED system comes to about 5% of the total value of the tower. Paramount is said to be valued at $600 million.

I totally underestimated this building. Much nicer than I ever expected!

Beautiful tower. Especially at night time. Wish it had 100 extra feet at the top in height, but can’t really complain.

Anonymous

“Paramount says 90 percent of 543 homes and 26 penthouses have been sold”

I just wanna know where are the people now who three years ago said that building this building on this site would be a failure?

Anonymous

idk why people doubt most buildings, the other building that should doubt is skyrise and any mana proposal.

Anonymous

Exactly… and I can’t wait to see Melo’s twin Downtown 5th towers in the skyline.

Anonymous

There are on this site complaining about other future buildings. Duuuuh!?

Anonymous

Yeah… one this city does have a lot of, “Expert Whiners.”

Anonymous

The resales will be a failure…

Anonymous

Wanna bet?

Anonymous

Yep, I’m betting on all of the oversupply in Downtown and Brickell.

Anonymous

Agree with you Brother. There is a glut of overpriced condos claiming to be “luxury” living with associations allowing for short term rentals. This is a recipe for disaster as the properties will deteriorate and allow savvy investors to scoop up their prize at a later time.

Anonymous

oooookay experts!

Anonymous

Wake up. New legislative session is enacting laws that supersede local and private condo regulations on prohibition of short term rentals. Condo properties deteriorate because members don’t understand the concept that they own the common elements as indivisible real property interest. They feel like the common elements is someone else’s problem to maintain and HOA fees should not to go up as buildings age and maintaining adequate reserves.

Hope people don’t forget about the Miami Tower, the OG Miami highrise that was been illuminated and featured in many post cards and tv shows.

POLO

The lighting on this tower is stunning. Congratulations are in order for Daniel Kodsi, and Color Kinetics Animation for bringing this vision to life.

Anonymous

Ok, if you like living on a billboard.

Anonymous

they also had the American flag displayed. Was stunning!!

Anonymous

There is no such thing as an American Flag… the flag you’re talking about is called the United States of America flag because it has fifty stars which represents the fifty states that make up the United States of America.

Anonymous

For the people who wanna give this comment thumbs down, prove it wrong….

Anonymous

Nope, nobody can prove the comment wrong… so you dumbass people just continue with your thumbs down because you see, I went to school when they were teaching Social Studies.

Sheesshhh… and people wonder why Amazon didn’t wanna build it’s new headquarters in this town.

When you refer to the Chines flag do you say the “Peoples Republic of China” flag? What about South Korea, do you say “Republic of Korea”? If you go to The Bahamas do you say you’re going to the “Commonwealth of The Bahamas”? Probably not, so what is the problem with saying American Flag instead of the United States of America flag?

Anonymous

Each country in North, Central, and South America have their own distinct flag.

“what is the problem with saying American Flag instead of the United States of America flag?”

Because the correct name of it is the flag of the United States of America.

Just using a name to call something and facts are two totally different things.

Anonymous

How many countries in the Americas have the word “America” in their name? It’s simply an abbreviation when you say “America” when you refer to the United States of America.

You must be really fun at parties.

Anonymous

“How many countries in the Americas have the word “America” in their name?”

This clueless person ask and answered his own question. The name “America” pinpoints the geographical location in where the country sits – the United States (the country) of America (the continent the country is located in).

Again, there is no American Flag… but there is a flag of the “UNITED STATES of AMERICA” which has fifty stars in it that represents the fifty states that make up the country called the “UNITED STATES.” Where is it located?.. on the continent of America (specifically the North American continent).

That’s why Russia (officially the Russian Federation), is a country located on the continent of Europe (specifically the Eastern European continent).

Anonymous

Russia is a transcontinental country. Most of Russia is in Asia not Europe.

Anonymous

Russia is still considered a European country.

Anonymous

Or NYC, or…

“You’re not wrong Walter. You’re just an ***hole.”

Anon

Best comment on the site, hands down. Bravo.

Anonymous

“Best comment?”

I see it doesn’t take much to please you.

Anon

keep arguing over the semantics of “america,” and leave humor up to the professionals.

Anonymous

What’s wrong TNM… don’t wanna post my comment because I said “ball licker?”

Amazing how this site allows some people to insult but can’t stand it when someone insults back.

Anonymous

It’s a losing battle. “America” has been short for USA for a long time – the song “America the Beautiful” was published in 1910, for instance.
You are technically correct if that helps you sleep.

Anonymous

No, the real question is, does adding YOUR two cents in the conversation help you sleep tonight?

Anonymous

If you don’t like people saying American Flag then get the F*** out of The United States of America! Come mie***a!

Anonymous

Did ten years in USA military for this country, that means I did the time and have the right to say what the fuck I want you raft riding border jumping POS!

Anonymous

Oh you’re the guy who tried to correct Lee Greenwood when he wrote God Bless The USA. “Its proud to be a United States of America citizen not proud to be an American”.

Anonymous

If you’re trying to correct me, I’m the who wrote the comment above yours and the one who wrote the comment “There is no such thing as an American Flag.” That’s like Captain Javier Ortiz saying the other day that he’s “black.” Just because he said so doesn’t mean it’s true.

Anonymous

Hey, this is beautiful America the land of the free and the citizens can call our flag whatever they want. I call this beautiful beacon of freedom the “ American flag”. How are you to tell anyone what it should be called?

Anonymous

Who told anybody that they can’t call the flag whatever they want?

But I bet you get pissed when you hear some black people refer to the flag as the flag of “Amerikkkca!?”

Paramount Miami Worldcenter ended up being a very nice surprise for the Miami skyline. One Thousand Museum was supposed to be the building that redefined the skyline but Paramount completely stole the show. OTM is completely dark at night…very easy to miss in the skyline at night.

Anonymous

Work is still going on at the One Thousand Museum building.

Anonymous

Yeah like their firesystem

Anonymous

What does that have to do with anything? Work is still going on at Paramount MWC too. None of the rooftop amenities are even open yet.

Anonymous

Who said work wasn’t still going on at the Paramount building? You wrote (or I guess it was you that wrote) “OTM is completely dark at night…very easy to miss in the skyline at night.” That could only mean that the lighting system is one of the things that hasn’t been completed yet and they’re still working on it in this building.

Anonymous

OTM doesn’t have a lighting system…that’s the point. Don’t you think they would have unveiled it during Art Basel or at least during Super Bowl week?

Anonymous

Are you the one that said “One Thousand Museum was supposed to be the building that redefined the skyline but Paramount completely stole the show. OTM is completely dark at night…very easy to miss in the skyline at night?” If so, then why ask the question?.. because you just answered it yourself!

Great looking light show

Anonymous

This just goes to show that Downtown and all the way up to the design district can support and need dozens more towers like this.

Anonymous

0.5%, not 5%..

Anonymous

Very, very cool tower! Nice work by the RPC team.

Anonymous

Outstanding addition to the downtown skyline.

Anonymous

… and so many people came on this site and doubted it.

Would be perfect for Atlanta Braves — looks like an axe already

Ex-Londoner now in 33132

Great work by fellow Brilliant [literally] Brit, Gavin Cooper!!

Anonymous

How about a place to buy a cup of coffee??

Anonymous

Have you searched in Brickell yet?

Anonymous

Nah, if he can’t buy a cup at this building, then he’s totally demoralized.

Anonymous

haha.. probably true

Anonymous

Or he’s simply arrogant

Anonymous

Neat. Not sure I’d want to be a unit owner and take financial responsibility for this.
