62-Story 1 Southside Park In Brickell Will Include A Treehouse Hotel By Barry Sternlicht

The 62-Story Brickell megaproject known as 1 Southside Park has just announced its first tenant.

Barry Sternlicht’s Treehouse Hotels will open a 191 room property inside the tower, the developers announced.

It will be the first Treehouse Hotel in the U.S., with one already open in London.

Interior design will be like a boathouse, inspired by the Miami River. Repurposed materials and found objects will be used, including reclaimed flooring, wood beams, and warm, mismatched lighting

There will be two rooftop pools, along with an outdoor bar and indoor outdoor dining area.

Event space will be located on the 25th floor, with both indoor and outdoor space.

Rockwell is designing interiors, with SHoP Architects designing the building and James Corner Field Operations overseeing landscaping design.

1 Southside Park will also include 1,175 apartments and 190,000 square feet of office. The apartment component alone is the biggest ever built in any downtown Miami project.

Demolition and site work is already underway at the project, with completion scheduled for 2023.

JDS is the developer.

Treehouse Hotels is part of Sternlicht’s SH Hotels. The company also owns the Baccarat Hotel brand which is planning to open at Related Group’s 444 Brickell project nearby.

Based on the view from my balcony, it looks like they have already started foundation work on this project.

Well, to fit in you have to be under 40, good looking, in great physical shape, make 100K or more a year, and be horny all the time!

Well, I’m over 40 and I make well under 100K a year. But I can swing the physical shape and I can get horny, just not all the time. But ladies, I’m mean with the pots and pans!

Or be over 50 have a fancy car and drive two blocks to Komodo Restaurant, with a 20’s chick 🐣 to eat overpriced Chinese food while outside the restaurant there’s a police car to protect some of the NBA players that eat there and want to defund the police 👮‍♀️

If we have police running around acting like a-holes because they have a badge, then yeah, defund them, and that may teach them that they work for the people.

If we have criminals running around acting like a-holes, then yeah, stand your ground, and that may teach them when the law fails society.

And 99.9 % of them sacrifice their life every day to deal with the scum from the earth, so many of us that respect the law are protected

Just because some few had committed crimes and are corrupt that won’t justify this big hyperbole of hate towards the uniform, and specially coming from those that ask for defunding the police but at the same time want to be protected by them !!

Police in miami is just a joke. Just to protect the construction sites with the lights on.

“Just because some few had committed crimes and are corrupt that won’t justify this big hyperbole of hate towards the uniform”

Describing this as “big hate” is using an extreme hyperbolic description. Very convenient of you to go deaf dumb and blind when the biggest proportion of these uniformed officers heinous actions are only against a few racial sections of America.

Get statistics and tell me what race has more victims of police violence

Agree. Many are great people doing a good job, but many others are jerks with bad attitudes. Arrogant. Little boys with guns and a siren. Have you ever seen one pull over into a side street or parking lot to give a ticket instead of blocking a lane and causing traffic to pile up for blocks?

You’ll be the first one to call a cop and cry because he’s not there and refunded. Ps don’t prejudice against white people, don’t inflict pain on innocent people and judge because of the color of the skin. Stop attacking innocent white. Racist!

Brickell has a lot of variety, from the older quieter parts south of 15th and on Brickell Key to the lively areas around Mary Brickell Village up to the Riverfront along S Miami. As a recent transplant, I get a kick out of the local car culture, but that’s not just Brickell. Even pickup trucks here are tuned to sound like mid-engine sports cars.

I don’t live in Brickell, but I like driving through there. It’s the only place in Miami that makes me feel like I’m in a real city. It’s great during the holidays. I dont mind the traffic jams. Reminds me of NYC. I only wish the sidewalks were wider.

Love it. I have lived and/or worked in Brickell since 2002, and it gets better everyday. City living for sure, but you can walk for miles along the bayfront, riverfront, and now the Underline. There are extensive restaurant offerings, and several more good ones on the way. In the last 5 years, there has been a massive influx of baby strollers, pregnant woman, and nannies on the sidewalks though.

All I can say is WOW! What an amazing and innovative design. Interesting to read that the interior spaces will have an eclectic decor, too. Nothing ordinary about this project. Love it!

Amazing project! If developers keep building at this level this city can truly rival other cities.

Anonymous

It will rival other cities that have bigger skyline if they stop presenting designs to us like the 100-story Waldorf Astoria Hotel & Residences and that comical looking SkyRise contraption.

Finish building up West Brickell before touching the other half of Southside/”Conch Hill” which should be capped at mid-rise as a transition to Shenandoah. Otherwise, you end up looking like Houston.

“Interior design will be like a boathouse, inspired by the Miami River. Repurposed materials and found objects will be used, including reclaimed flooring, wood beams, and warm, mismatched lighting “

For that they going to hire a hoarder as an interior designer 👩‍🎨

Plastic bottles, pieces of cardboard, a dead 🐢 turtle and even a Marielito’s corpse from the 1980’s will be part of the decor !!

Maybe they could stack more legos and combine Waldorf with this project.
How little creativity.
