649-Foot Missoni Baia Appears Near Completion In Edgewater, With New Baywalk

In Edgewater, the 57-story Missoni Baia tower appears close to completion.

A groundbreaking ceremony for the tower was held in October 2017, with an event that included a scantily clad saxophonist on a flyboard.

A foundation pour for the tower took place in January 2020.

Top-off of the tower took place in July 2021.

The tower is being built at a height of 646 feet above ground, or 649 feet above sea level.

Behind the new tower and along the bayfront, a baywalk was built – which is a requirement for all new construction in the area along the bay or river. That baywalk is now substantially complete and already open to the public.

Asymptote is the architect.

OKO Group and Cain International are the developers.

The entirety of the Miami River should be accessible via some kind of Riverwalk to the public.

Being connected to pedestrian walks is a great selling point. This is more proof.

Yeah neighborhoods become hood without river walks – people will move to areas with river walks of Miami doesn’t make this mandatory and start it

We’ve already used this baywalk so many times since it’s been open. It will be great when the whole thing is complete!

Yes. Best tailored / designed tower. Would have liked more fenestration on that west facade but they articulated it much better than “you know who”.
Photos of base are a bit stucco ‘d….. so not sure if this is another 1-95 tower (looks best driving 55 mph by it).

Some of the units are getting late work done on them. I can view the lights from my balcony

They took their time and did it right, they raised the tower unlike the Elysee which constantly floods now

Yes note the very small building height vs elevation difference. The actual towers are 646′ above ground out of 649′ above sea level. The ground around them is only a meter or less high. Most 649′ high buildings are more like 640′ above ground in locations that are closer to 10 feet or 3 meters ground elevation.

The bayfront, the edge of edgewater, is particularly low ^ rank = how many ft below high tides. -1 so far

Make the side facing the bay look great and who cares about what faces inland, they said.

unfortunately. Its like they allowed a 5th grader to use the Word Art gradient color in the back of the tower

Well, that color happens to be one of Missoni’s signature colors, so…

Color pallet looks fine, but the two different sized elevator shaft grates are hideous. They totally gave up on trying to do something to hide them. Value engineering on display there.

Not to mention the parking garage taking a bigger portion of the block than the tower itself.

The colors of the parking garage are almost offensively ugly. Beautiful tower apart from that.

There’s an Olympic-sized lap pool atop the garage and tennis courts as well as lounge pools. Given the water front sites that are remaining are smaller, it is unlikely we will see these kinds of amenities again.

The building is stunning, the baywalk looks like an afterthought

A full connected river and baywalk is a nonstarter for growth in Miami and elimination of blight.

This tower looks great and is more of a bezel design than the discount Bezel at worldcenter.

Scantily clad saxophonist on a flyboard. Wish I was there to see that.
