MiamiCentral Rerouting Downtown Streets For Two More Towers

All Aboard Florida is making big plans for the second phase of MiamiCentral.

Land previously reserved for single “supertower” has now been split into two separate tracts, according to documents filed with the county last month. The plans indicate that each tract will have a separate tower.

The two new developments will be located at the intersection of Northwest 1st Avenue and Northwest 2nd Street, adjacent to the current Miamicentral construction site. The new developments will include:

  • Tract F (1.376 acres) will include a tower with 750 hotel rooms and 50,000 square feet of retail space
  • Tract G (1.326 acres) will include a tower with 800,000 square feet of office space and an additional 50,000 square feet of retail

All Aboard Florida submitted a request to have the property replatted into the two separate tracts last month, and a county committee is recommending approval.

As part of the replatting, Northwest First Avenue will be straightened, with part of what is currently a roadway being added to the project site.

The proposed hotel would be bigger than any existing hotel within the city of Miami, while the office tower would be one of the biggest ever built in the city.

Interest in the first phase of the project has been strong, with most of the office and retail space already leased.

Perhaps they are contemplating a PPP for a new civil courthouse and economics of the deal make more sense if they don’t build a super tower?

Would they replace the park that they would pave over with these plans?

They messed up the traffic flow on the south end, its a t stop twice, but i guess destroying the shape is fine because of taxes and we shouldnt cater to cars…but atleast keep the shape

So no supertower….just two massive towers similar to the 1st phase….ugh

I agree. A super tower would have been more interesting to look at… It would have also anchored a bit more.

They are both still going to be bigger than anything in Miami right now. Can’t complain and the project is moving along nicely.

How tall will they be?

I’m not sure exactly. Nothing was revealed indicating exact height. But if it is going to be bigger than anything in Miami right now like the article states, then I can “assume” it will be more than 700+ feet in height since the 4 seasons is in that height range and probably less than 1000 ft. I would rather have two ” fairly ” big towers for more added depth than just one single super tower. For Miami, right now anything more than 750 feet would be super for me.

Do you know that the Mdm worldcenter hotel would have 1100 hotel rooms and would be less than 700ft. Trust me these guys are just going to build a massive yet short building

I believe the land for the MWC hotel is at least twice the size of these two parcels put together.
