80-Floor One Brickell City Centre Gets FAA Approval At 1,049 Feet (Again)

The Federal Aviation Administration has once again granted approval for the 80-story One Brickell City Centre supertall tower to be built at 1,040 feet above ground, or 1,049 feet above sea level.

Developer Swire Properties has until December 2020 to break ground or the approval will expire. The developer can also apply for extensions, likely until 2022 at the latest.

A previous approval for the same height was applied for in 2013 and approved in 2015, but expired in 2018.

A second application was filed for in March 2018, following expiration of the first. Review took about 18 months and was granted on June 15.

Why this is news? This tower won’t come out of the ground until 2025 or later.

Swire should pay the FAA for wasting their time to approve this when it won’t get built…

The approval took 18 months to grant the same height approval? Hmmmm… Something seems off.

“Review took about 18 months?”

Got to be kidding me!

You know what, I am happy if it takes freakin 36 months – maybe that will prevent these developers from just casually letting sh*t expire…why are we more concerned here about the length of the review (which they all know up front) more than the fact that they apply multiple times in succession? Go ahead, worship the developers like a little backwater town, because of course if you don’t criticize them and bow to them, they will fill your skyline with buildings and make you feel like an important town. Yeesh!

Cool story bro.

You appear to the type of man who doesn’t mind it if a woman make you wait a year before giving you the nookie even after all the gifts plus the wining and dining you paid for.

Sarcasm. I get it. Bet you’ll get thumbs down and criticism from the ones who don’t.

Awesome tower.

Build it!

Swire has lost its mojo.

” The developer can also apply for extensions, likely until 2022 at the latest. ”

Why get approved when you aren’t going break ground?

marc

Because attorney’s wife needs new Ferrari and he had to generate load of paperwork

Still nice height, shame about the architecture. Maybe it’ll change?

I am wondering if Miami Mayor has ever been to Brickell Ave at 5pm. As is, the traffic unbearable. Let’s add 80 floors of offices in this tower plus 50 floors of OKO group tower plus few residential buildings he keeps approving 20 feet window to window, how the hell we are going to drive or breathe in this city? People invest high $$ into their units only to find out later that an 80 story building will block out their view completely. Shame

you must have forgotten you live in a city… lmao

Cities can be livable……bro. If done the right way.

We are lucky that this area has superior air quality, so at least we can breathe.
Unfortunately it’s because we have no industry.

I have some solutions for you: Stay outta Brickell at 5pm. Don’t buy a residential unit anywhere in Brickell. And don’t come out doors or go anywhere in Brickell without a breathing mask on.

There.. now follow those suggestions and you won’t have to worry about anything.
