Report: Guggenheim Execs Moving To Miami

Update: A co-president of Guggenheim told Bloomberg that “there’s no formal relocation to Florida.”

Guggenheim’s billionaire CEO and co-founder Mark Walter also has no plans to relocate, the report said.

Crain’s Chicago is reporting that Guggenheim Partners “is on the verge of deciding to move its headquarters to Miami.”

The financial services firm has over $300 billion in assets under management, and over 2,000 employees.

The company previously employed around 1,000 in Chicago, while also having a dual headquarters in New York.

The Crain’s report said that top executives will be based in Miami and not New York or Chicago.

Keep the jobs rolling! Miami will become the hedge fund capital of the world soon if the momentum stays!

About 5 years ago, when real men of action (cue the old Bud lIght soundtrack) were setting the foundations for what is happening now.

Knuckleheads on The Next Miami comments section said, “I’ll believe it when I see it”

Very sexist and egotistical to think the success of today is only attributed to a a few “real men of action,” when the mayor of Miami-Dade is a woman. Not to say these men didn’t have a positive effect, but there are many factors that are bringing people to Miami, including it being one of the most worldly, liberal and diverse parts of Florida.

Liberals built Miami. Hillary won Miami and Biden won Miami. Let’s watch the uneducated MAGATs screw it up.

Lori Lightfoot dismantled that city. Even the Chicago Bears don’t want anything to do with urban Chicago.

And the new elected mayor will continue the job to obliterate the city. Guess voters don’t learn

The voters who learn plan their exit. What is left won’t learn. This is how places like Camden and Baltimore get to the state of nature.

Since Lori Lightfoot lost the election she is starting to speak up on crime and school closings. Maybe she should have spoke up before the election.

They’re not collapsing. They just peaked. If we don’t take measures to grow this city cohesively, it will Ivey populate in the same way.

In 1992, 7 of the top 10 companies were headquartered in Michigan. (I don’t remember the order exactly and am too lazy to look it up now)
GM, Ford, Chrysler, KMart, Dow Chemical, Upjohn, Whirlpool.

None of those loser companies on in the top 10 now.

No smart money is inventing, innovating, or making a difference in Michigan now, and 1992 was not that long ago.

We need more advanced top notch Masters’ and PhD’s programs in Miami so that local can get these jobs instead of outsiders moving in to get them

Locals can get an MBA from Babson College at 1200 Brickell Avenue.
For 30 straight years awarded the #1 MBA Program for Entrepreneurship in the nation.

We need to attract Big Pharma down to Miami and let them escape NJ, where all of them are.

Lucky Duck

Why? New Jersey is the 5th safest State in the nation.

Anonymous

Because Miami is a better option for that industry. Florida has some Pharma in Tampa but Miami is where it should be.

Anonymous

Because it’s an apples to oranges comparison. NJ and CT are mostly suburbs. If you look at their urban centers, they are appalling. It’s only mix of suburbs vs urban areas that causes that statistic to look favorable for the state.

From a construction point of view and timing of the first new office building ( citidal or Brickell city centre tower) it will be interesting if the construction contracts call for 7 day a week construction.

Who needs an office? Most people working remote or in hybrid. People are more productive and happier with options, and it’s less overhead for the company.

Alpina

Be ready for the office space of the future. Developers, Architects and Interior Designers will have to deliver office space with better amenities in order to attract people back to the office mentality…and Miami could set the trend

Anonymous

Exactly, the old office spaces lack personal autonomy.

anonymous

if you have a really long commute i could see not wanting to go to the office. But most of the people from this company are probably highly paid and could afford to live in the area (or within 30 minutes) so going into the office wouldnt be that bad. But if you live in Kendall and have to drive 1.5 hours one way id never want to go into the office

Some people live in Miami and work in Fort Lauderdale or West Palm Beach

Anonymous

Probably even more vice versa.

Anonymous

It depends on the company, culture, and job. If an employer offers modern well maintained office space with a talented HR department, then the office can be good for business and culture. Otherwise it can work against productivity and culture.

All Chicago needs to do is lock up recidivist criminals so people can feel safe on the streets. I used to go there from Detroit to experience a great city. What a waste.

People are finally waking up to Miami and it’s potential. This city can be the Los Angeles of the east coast. Liberal policies , conservative policies have nothing to do with it. It’s the potential. It’s there. Miami has beautiful bones. And it doesn’t hurt that it’s close to the Caribbean and South America.

Is Miami now the second biggest skyline in the USA? Or is it still Chicago?

Hi!!

The same things that happened to NYC, SF and Chicago are already happening in Miami. Most of their employees won’t be from Miami, local salaries are still low comparatively and home prices are through the roof. It’s not about red or blue cities or states it’s about simple supply and demand and Miamis supply can’t keep up fast enough!

Explain why Houston and Atlanta have more high paying white collar jobs then Miami but lower housing costs.

Captain Obvious

Land. Miami, LA, SF, and NY have obvious land constraints through Geography. Houston, Atl, and Chicago don’t, which is why they are cheaper.

Anonymous

Exactly—which is why keeping out high paying jobs will not make homes in Miami more affordable.
