Report: Dolphins Owner Stephen Ross Partnering With Swire On Supertall Office Tower In Miami

Related Companies – which was founded by Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross – has announced plans to build a supertall office tower in Miami, according to Bloomberg.

Related will reportedly partner with Swire to develop One Brickell City Centre. The developers recently filed plans with the FAA to build at 1,040 feet above ground.

Work will start in 2023, the report said.

Swire had previously revealed plans for an 80-story tower on the site with a mix of office, residential, hotel and retail. It isn’t clear if all of those components will remain.

Related is the developer behind Hudson Yards in New York, which is said to be the largest private development in the history of the U.S.

Ross, who grew up in Miami, is Related’s chairman.

“The momentum in the Miami office market is extraordinary,” Ross said in a statement.

Major companies are now on the hunt for office space in Miami, Ross added. “The large national firms we work with across the country are actively seeking the world-class office product we’re known for delivering.”

It will be the tallest and largest office tower in Florida, the report said.

if this guy is investing in miami and building a supertall office building its because he knows its going to be a success…but while im loving all the building and seeing our beautiful skyline develop i know the future will be a difficult one when trying to travel on our roads…its tragic these leaders..(hahaha) have failed all of us by never having the courage and foresight to develop mass transit that makes sense not one where its necessary to transfer multiple times….

Seriously no mirage here like you get with some of these Miami developers. If Ross says it’s serious it’s serious

They could at least extend the metromover to midtown. I know a beach rail will be a year of environmental studies but at least do the simple projects. Also bring Tri-Rail out west and south Dade in existing tracks.

Coastal Link could get a Midtown stop up and running before the MiamiCentral platform debacle is resolved. Extend Metrorail to South Beach, Doral, and FIU.

“If this guy is investing in miami and building a supertall office building its because he knows its going to be a success… ”

Yeah, lets see him do some serious gambling.. like building a supertall office building on a farm somewhere.

Geezzz the shit people say…

I see my comment got plenty of “thumb down” votes… I don’t know why. Listen, this guy (or gal) said – “if this guy is investing in miami and building a supertall office building its because he knows its going to be a success…”

Stephen Ross is the owner of the Miami Dolphins. Ross is a Real Estate Mogul in NYC. Ross is worth billions of dollars and he already had billions of dollars before he purchased the Miami Dolphins. Stephen Ross doesn’t do anything when it comes to real estate market if he thinks it’ll be a failure. So it’s really useless to me to say – “if this guy (Stephen Ross) is investing in miami and building a supertall office building its because he knows its going to be a success… ” Duhhh, all the other developers do the same thing!

For anybody who thumb down my first comment, you’re woefully lacking logic.

It may be time for an actual subway system. It would be costly, but this rate it might be the best option.

That’s why Downtown town & Brickell keep expanding. They have everything they need and cars not necessary. Just look at City Center and Mary Brickell Village. Also the train about 30 minutes from Dadeland which is quicker than driving. Miami finally has become a large city.

Miami has been a large city for a while now.

The biggest issue with mass transit is who is going to pay it it to be built and maintained, as well as operating expenses and the county/ city doesn’t want to invest in it not for seeing a profit

Stephen Ross is in it for the long-term. Hell, in West Palm Beach, he fought for years for his tower which finally broke ground a few months ago, after California slumlord Jeff Greene tried to get the city commission to stop it because it would compete with his mediocre third-rate Arquitectonica monstrosity on the edge of downtown which has stalled for two years.

Is a tunnel feasible ?

Sensational. Miami’s real estate market is so hot, anything is possible. Just imagine, an approximately 100-story office tower would be Brickell’s crown jewel.

If Related had the expertise and resources to execute New York’s Hudson Yards, which is the largest project ever executed in that city, making this supertall building in Miami seems like it’s a lot easier.

Yes. Swire (from Hong Kong) has owned the Brickell land very long time, and they’ve partnered with Related.

Ross will shit on these miami developers . i know related companies is much more powerful than any local developer. but i think we should treat our local developers with more respect, they invest a lot in our city and should be given a lot of credit for revitalizing miami’s urban core.

Anonymous

thats a lofty statement saying the local developers have done alot in the city. Building a bunch of high rises doesnt mean they have done great things for the city. A lot of them put out sub standard buildings with poor workmanship. Just look at the defect construction lawsuits happening at brickell city center

When it is residential, they complain of parking spaces…..

l love the building and if there is enough of them and they are filled, there will be a demand for more infrastructure for moving people easily and efficiently.

Is 2451 Brickell Ave located on the Bay one of the last huge underutilized sites of land in Miami? It is almost 9 acres of prime land. I’m surprised they still manage to hold out with a great location next to the UNA development.

It seems reasonable to assume that an investment of this magnitude requires extensive market research. Therefore, the company knows exactly what it is talking about.
