Across From Canvas, Another Luxury Rental Project Is Planned

Developer J. Milton & Associates is planning a rental project called The Arts Luxury City Rentals, according to a sign recently installed at the property.

The project is planned on a lot owned by the developer at 38 Northeast 17 Street. It has nearly an acre of land, and most of a city block.

J. Milton paid $7.3 million for the property in 2015.

Over 1,200 units are already under construction within a block.

Across the street, 513 units are under construction at the Canvas condo site. One block away, Melo Group has 710 rental units under construction at the Square Station project.

The Arts & Entertainment district is finally coming alive.

Everyone is trying to cash in on the Arts. There is only one or two art galleries worth the visit within 2 miles of this hood. Most of the art galleries have moved to Little Haiti already. And get ready for the new hotels being built in that area on the next 3 years.

They are just names …… after that the address will be the address , for emergency reason , fire department , police , et…… And yes prices will go down for the next coming years and then up again when all occupied ….. but long run if you have the power to hold will be a good investment

Great news great news. Keep it coming, that area, and areas further north and south of it has scores of empty weed covered lots that are just aching for development.

Forget the silly names, what about the horrific design? Canvas is the ugliest building in Miami, an absolute design atrocity.

canvas… the arts…. what DUMB names for projects. I own a condo in the neighborhood and feel that this weak, baseless branding, that I guess is meant to play off the fact that there is a performing arts center nearby? affects my value. Tell me, please. What about this building will be “The Arts”? Canvas? Does that mean I can just take a huge paintbrush and paint all over it? Where is the Canvas?!?! WHERE IS THE CANVAS??!!?!? Neighborhood should just be called the Omni. It’s a classy sounding word and connotes no fake association to the arts.

What’s Arts District? it is nor hand, nor foot,
Nor arm, nor face, nor any other part
Belonging to a man. O! be some other name:
What’s in a name? that which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet;

Omni, a defunct C-level mall, whose name was subsequently applied to the blighted neighborhood that surrounds it. Sounds classy to me

Jeez…relax will you? It’s just a name. If something as trivial as this upsets you, I’d hate to be within a five mile radius when some tragedy befalls you.
