Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture Designing 888 Brickell Plaza Office Tower

OKo Group’s 888 Brickell Plaza office tower is being designed by a starchitect.

Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture is designing the building, according to documents submitted to Miami’s Planning & Zoning Department.

Revuelta appears to be the architect of record.

The project will top off at 50 stories, the documents state. An earlier FAA filing put the tower height at 834 feet above ground.

WeWork has signed a lease to occupy 10 of the floors, county records show.

Eight zoning waivers are being requested under the Miami 21 zoning code, including a parking reduction to just 626 spaces.

Construction on the foundation is already underway, although planning approval hasn’t been granted yet.

OKO has developed extensively in Moscow and New York and has an international perspective.

Owned by a Russian Oligarch, duh.

So ?

Anonymous

They are going to call it Trump Tower Miami!

Anonymous

And?
So what?

Anonymous

It was, and actually looked pretty good for them these days, and then the genius Urban Design Board made them cheapen it up with an irregularly-spaced grid ascending, and a pukey color.

Anonymous

They designed a building previously approved for that site.

Broooo.. office building + starchitect?? I want to invite these guys to dinner to show my appreciation. Hopefully the first of many developers to do so…

Just do a giant glass box, at least we are getting a dedicated office building in the urban core.

Anonymous

Right, but it can be a *cool* glass box

No need to set standards low when we can get towers like 1450 Brickell.

This has potential to be amazing. ASGG is an incredible firm, one of the 3 or 4 best in the world. OKO (not Okan) has a great appreciation for timeless architecture. I can’t wait to see this in renderings and construction progress.

Agree 100%

Hurray for (hopefully) good architecture and parking reduction!

Anonymous

What’s the hold up on city approval ? And is Okan still waiting for approval ?

Anonymous

Okan Scam Tower won’t be built! I wish it did though.

Anonymous

Probably the parking reduction. City of Miami loves its parking.

Anon

Okan has nothing to do with this.

Anonymous

Will it have shore power?

Anonymous

Shore will!

This project is giving me blue balls.

Another giant parking podium.

I wish for them to keep the old design on the site. That green tower rendering was beautiful.
