Alaska & American Plan Two New Nonstop Flights To Portland

The Miami area has never had nonstop flights to Portland, Oregon. That will change this November.

Last week, Alaska Airlines announced it would begin daily flights from Miami International Airport to Portland on November 17, 2023.

Just days later, American Airlines announced it would begin nonstop flights on the route starting November 5.

The flights by both airlines will operate as an overnight redeye on the way to Miami.

Alaska’s flight to Portland will depart MIA in the morning, while American’s will depart in the evening.

Both flights are already bookable.

I agree! Between the homeless encampments, zombie drug users, rampant crime, graffiti and Antifa as the welcoming party, who wouldn’t want to visit!

I visited the Portland area for 2 weeks, flew in to Portland and hiked around Mt. Hood and visited the Columbia Gorge and Multnomah Falls. Never stepped foot in downtown Portland.

If Mt. Hood erupted, nothing of value will be lost.

Its not a living hell.. the propaganda in Miami about Portland is horrible…I live here and I can speak for myself..it’s rather a beautful city, very green plus people are very nice, educated and friendly!

And woke, aggressive homeless, dirty streets, crime rampant, stores closing everywhere, homeless tents all over. The city used to be one of my favorites in the US. Propaganda?. I don’t think so. it seemed pretty accurate depiction when I visited last time about 8 months ago.

I personally don’t support those ultra progressive, Marxist cities.
Look at San Francisco. What a waste of a city. Surely you won’t see it on CNN

Glad to see some extra flights from the West Coast. Portland is a great city to explore with lots of greenery, a great literature and arts scene, and good beer. That doesn’t mean Miami is not great, I’m just saying it’s worth seeing.

Too bad y’all have to overcompensate for your small dick and rant about how “horrible” the people are there.

There are people here that still are trying to reason with the MAGA cult about life not being a binary 0 or 1? It’s like trying to explain to Woke Zoomers that the past cannot be judged with the present. Both of these groups are gone, their minds are drones with no individual rational thought, and are not coming back. Portland did go too hard left and has problems from it, just like some places stay too conservative and are not that wonderful either. I don’t have a problem visiting Portland any more that I have a problem visiting Lynchburg, Virginia.

I live in Portland. Downtown Portland. Parts of it are great. But, generally, it has been dramatically degraded by people who, albeit with good intentions, continue to elect people who effect disastrous policies and laws that have and continue to ruin the city. Unspeakable squalor, addiction, and crime are up by order of magnitude and rising. You can’t walk or drive in the town without exposure to this. People become numb to it as they step over addicts and human waste lying on the ground in the doorway to, say, a cafe. The population, and number of businesses are falling as people abandon Portland to the street addicts aka homeless. There are 36,000 outstanding applications for concealed carry permits as even some of the left leaning citizenry has become sufficiently afraid. There is a Mad Max feel developing. Elected leadership is disconnected from reality. But still the citizens of Portland and Oregon double down and vote for more misguided, absurd, kumbaya policies, wishing the world is different than it is, and acting in ways that move the world even farther from, rather than closer to, that vision.

I wish American Airlines would have added nonstop flights to Calgary instead. The skiing around there is amazing and you’d get a lot of two-way traffic for those wanting to come south during the winter.

Seasonal, twice a week, from FLL. Not ideal.

Fort Lauderdale has had multiple nonstops to Portland FYI. I flew JetBlue there even tho I think that route was cancelled and I believe Alaska has had a season nonstop for a few years.

yeah keep servicing less than 1% with relatives in portland but we can’t even get direct common flights to puerto vallarta or santiago de chile.

unfortunately ultra woke leftist policies have turned Portland into a non-livable place I don’t see how tourists to South Florida or even Miami residents would want to visit over there

Anonymous

Ultra woke leftist policies had no bearing on my enjoying a tour of the Columbia River Gorge. But I’m a normal person not consumed by media propaganda. And actually I’m an independent voter who leans conservative.

Do you feel the same when they started flights to/from Cuba??

Anonymous

Say that to the quarter million Cubans pouring into America each single year as a testament to communist governance. At this rate Cuba will be depopulated in a few decades. Venezuela too just lost about 25% of its population – many of whom are all over in Miami. Ever been to Doralzuela? You sound like a recent import so better go out and get a sense of our county before you spit game.

Geez u extra mean and uneducated. Why it okay when they start flights to a communist country but not from Portland? U do know Portland is in he USA right?!

Anonymous

I did, but at the same time it was a real red pill experience for the later-generation Cubans who didn’t lean as right as those who left the island directly.
