Doug Parker: Next New American Airlines Route From Miami Is To Frankfurt

American Airlines is planning to add a new flight from Miami International Airport to Frankfurt.

CEO Doug Parker announced the new route at the Beacon Council annual meeting in Coral Gables this morning.

Lufthansa is the only airline currently serving the route, with a daily A380 that operates year-round. It is one of the heaviest traveled routes from MIA. Low cost airline Condor also flies to Frankfurt seasonally from Fort Lauderdale.

American previously flew to Frankfurt from Miami for a short period beginning in 1995 when the MIA hub was much smaller, but ended the route in 1997. From Frankfurt, American’s only other flight is to Dallas, but the US Airways subsidiary currently operates to Philadelphia and Charlotte.
