American Airlines Seat Capacity To Miami Increasing 10% This Winter

We’ve already learned that American Airlines is planning a record 380 daily flights departing from Miami International Airport this winter.

Now, the actual increase in seat capacity has been revealed.

According to MIA, seat capacity scheduled to and from MIA this winter by American Airlines is 10% higher than it was last year.

That would be a big boost to the airport, which is already seeing record numbers.

Last year, MIA served 50.7 million passengers, shattering its previous record of 45.9 million set in 2019.

This year, traffic is up 2.6% through the first half, putting the airport on track for yet another record (even before the AA increases kick in later this year).

Through the first half of 2023, American mainline flying accounted for 55.8% of passenger count at MIA. Envoy Air, which handles regional flying for AA, accounted for an additional 4.3% of traffic, bringing the total to just over 60%.

thats a problem of the airport not American Airlines. The county and the city have done a terrible job bringing the airport up to modern standards.

If it’s done my Arquitectonica, Zyscovich, etc. a complete rebuild will be worse and not last as long either.

LATAM is a South American company. Their hubs would be in São Paulo, Santiago, and Lima, not in an American city like Miami!

More like adding 10% more passengers by making the seats smaller or making us stand.

Miami international Airport neds a complete overhaul, bathroom always filthy, sometimes you can even breathe inside, few places where you can recharge your phone, carpets really dirty and seating must be upgraded. Besides service in AA flights shoi be better.

Why is Immigration always such a fiasco at Terminal D (AA)? It’s embarrassing to see the chaos for passengers connecting in Miami from an International flight. Immigration and the TSA security lines post Customs at the D terminal are horrible. Why can’t the city do better? I can understand people not wanting to connect through Miami.

MDAD should explore the possibility of selling name rights to the airport so more revenue is available to fix up the placed lol

MIAs a joke

I was just in Puerto Rico and their airport use to suck and now it’s somehow better than MIA. How are things run so poorly in a city that should have money spilling out of its pockets?

Unfortunately Miami is really bad when it comes to baggage handling. Waiting an additional 45 – 60 minutes for your bags is normal.

Did anyone else think AA was getting an A380 as they read the first sentence?

Cool, come back to the negotiation table on naming rights when Kaseya bellies up.
