It appears that work is about to get underway on Midtown Miami’s next apartment tower, Midtown 8.
On October 13, the developer applied for a permit to begin demolition at the site. The property is mostly vacant, with a slab of concrete on which a tent has been erected in recent years during Art Basel.
Miami’s Planning & Zoning Department approved Midtown 8’s construction plans in late August.
Wood partners of Atlanta is the developer of Midtown 8. Stantec is the architect.
Next door, the Midtown 6 & 7 towers are still going through the approval process by a separate developer, Magellan Properties. There will still be tents going up during this year’s Art Basel on those properties, according to a permit filed this week.
