Another Hotel May Be Coming To Brickell: Marriott Residence Inn

A hotel appears to be in the planning stages in Brickell.

Saul Ewing Arnstein & Lehr Land Use & Zoning Attorney Miguel Diaz de la Portilla recently met with city officials about building the new hotel, records show.

The hotel flag would be a Marriott Residence Inn. It would be built at 1741 SW 2nd Ave, next to a Hilton Homewood Suites.

Hotelex Brickell LLC purchased the property in 2014 for $5 million.

For the life of me, I can’t understand why developers think demand will support the huge amount of hotels planned. I am familiar with the strong tourism numbers to Miami….but truly, is there pent up demand to stay at a Marriot on SW 2nd avenue?

My girlfriend lives at Brickell View West and she says that the two hotels on the corner are always busy. I am sure that Marriott has done their research well. I personally think it is great another empty lot gone. Keep them coming.

Usually it’s a private developer who does the research, builds and hires Marriott (or another hotel company) to run the property.

Residence Inn is Marriott’s economy limited service brand. Appropriately located at this site.
