Avianca Lounge In South Terminal One Step Closer

MIA officials hope to add up to four new premium lounges at MIA, but only one has been approved so far according to the Miami-Dade Aviation Department’s Greg Chin.

A proposal to operate a lounge in the South Terminal has been prepared for and presented to Avianca. The deal would be for less than five years, thus avoiding the need for a review by Dade commissioners.

British Airways also hopes to operate a lounge at MIA, but terms are still being negotiated for final approval.  Qatar Airways has expressed interest in operating a lounge, but no terms have been discussed so far.

Dade commissioners recently approved a deal with American Express to operate a Centurion Lounge in the North Terminal.
