Beach Committee Looking At Ways To Encourage Redevelopment Of Washington Avenue, Including Zoning Overlay

Miami Beach’s Land Use Committee will consider a Washington Avenue master plan this afternoon, including a possible new zoning overlay district.

The city is hoping to encourage redevelopment of the area, which is sometimes seedy and more active at night than during the day. A zoning increase could quadruple allowable density, adding an additional 989,730 square feet of FAR, but would require a referendum.

The Committee will also look at improving city services, transportation, and regulating allowable uses.
