Brand New Canopy Park At The Entrance To Miami Beach Nearly Complete

The 3-acre Canopy Park is now nearing completion at the entrance to South Beach, new photos by Ryan RC Rea show.

The new park will include a botanical garden, dog park, and fitness area. There will also be an event lawn surrounded by native trees, an art pavilion, and a Monstrum-designed kids zone.

The park will be connected by a pedestrian bridge to the baywalk and beachwalk.

Developers agreed to build the park in exchange for the right to build the tallest building in South Beach, known as Five Park

The Five Park tower is also now rising. It will reach a height of 44-stories, or 546 feet.

ArquitectonicaGEO is the architect of the new park.

I highlight three cool things in this project: the park, the tower and the walkway over Alton Rd. A beautiful entrance to South Beach.

I wish the City of Miami would take note and use this park as an example and start making improvements to Maurice Ferre/Museum Park!

Incredible for many reasons including how long this lot was vacant besides an abandoned hospital and a 711…

Extend Metrorail through here to the beach. Not MetroMOVER, no monorail. MetroRAIL, and if residents don’t want elevated tracks, a high-capacity and easily expandable streetcar system.

This is a great example of a public/private partnership that actually works for the benefit of the community. The park is a great addition to South Beach.

Such an awesome W for South Beach! The whole development and refreshing for once that a municipality didn’t get hit with the bait and switch to build the tower first and the park second and then somehow the park never gets finished.

I remember some F O O L S fighting this tall tower. They wanted a low rise instead which spread over the entire land without the park. I am glad the developer Galbut won this time and got his way. Sometimes we the people are always not right.

If the only way from side to side is that elevated tunnel they can expect an abundance of hit and runs

That’s the entrance to the city but not the beach. this park is on opposite ends of the island.

With that logic, Flamingo Park must be dead.

It’s the entrance to Miami Beach but not Miami beach.
