Brickell is like a walkable Manhattan in Florida, especially with all these new pedestrian experiences at BCC and interconnected storefronts throughout Brickell.

If only, that’s why people are moving to Brickell. Just enough of that style with more clean air, low rise density, and space.

I’m not sure you’ve been to Brickell recently. The Manhattan style half of Brickell is about 10 blocks by 6 avenues, from I95 to Biscayne Bay, and if you include Brickell Key it’s even wider. The other half to the south is residential only and very nice too.

We need to connect Brickell to other areas like Midtown, Miami Beach via Metromover so people can finally leave their cars home unless they are going out of town.

I agree about connecting more areas but Brickell is already highly connected to other areas… downtown, the roads, little Havana, Viscaya, Coconut Grove, Coral Gables, Key Biscayne,, the airport. It’s in the center of it all and has multiple modes of public transportation.

Brickell is not that connected to South Beach/Miami Beach. It takes forever to get there especially if there is traffic. Easier to get there from Park West area especially with the coming baylink; or just e-bike across the causeway in like 7 minutes.

You say forever, I counted 15 minutes on a weekday morning at 9am.

Maybe 15 minutes means forever.

If you live on this side of the bay, going to Miami/South Beach probably isn’t your priority. Some prefer Key Biscayne or a walk around Coconut Grove. The longer you live in Miami the more gems you can come to find and love, but South Beach is a lot of fun and accessible to all of Miami.

What multiple modes other than Metrorail? The bus? No thank you. We need a Metrorail extension from Miami Airport to Douglas Road, an east-west from South Beach to FIU, and streetcars through Little Havana and Coral Way.

Absolutely! THIS is Miami, and where locals will come to utilize a system like this. These are areas that NEED it and it will help lift them up. South Beach is already a hit, and tourists will uber there from the airport regardless of a metro rail. If anything add a water taxi for day trippers, like Fort Lauderdale has. Everyone loves it.

how is it connected to any of those places beyond bus?

Trolleys, buses, sidewalks, bike paths, multiple metro mover stations, scooters, ride shares, boats and marinas, and metro rail to airport and south Miami.

Brickell is connected, and has been for at least 30 years.

WE NEED to relax.

Brickell Station

Correct. Brickell is the most connected part of Miami. Where else has a metro rail that meets a metro mover? The Brickell Station. Maybe one day it will be updated to a more modern station with the jumbo-sized developments coming to the area.

Good, and I hope the Brickell city tower will have more retail too and have a beautiful connection to the rest of the mall.

I can’t wait for Miami Worldcenter to open and spread around so that the whole downtown and Brickell will connect into a big walkable area. Eventually, from Brickell to Midtown, Edgewater to Wynwood etc. Miami will become all walkable like Manhattan.

That will be exciting! There are other walkable areas around Brickell too. Excited about Riverside and restoration of Little Havana, and all the new retail and restaurants along the Miami River and through Coral Way all the way to Coconut Grove. All along the Underline is growing like the “Village” in Manhattan. I personally like seeing the low-rise open air areas that compliment the high rises in Brickell and Downtown.

We need more shading trees, bike lanes and the Metromover extension!

You can’t have a giant flyover for your free electric beer can bus and complete streets at the same time.

Sure you can. Ever heard of the underline?

Some of the extra foot traffic is people walking their dogs inside their mall.
Have you notice all the benches and shop windows sprayed with dog pee?

Brickell is very walkable except for the streets where the metro mover flyovers are….

These are the most walkable areas in Brickell. They are blocks of pedestrian-only thoroughfares in this part of Brickell. The blocks are shorter and more shaded.

What makes an area “walkable”? If its storefronts, hang tight. More are coming soon. A Bank of America just opened a brand-new storefront here.
