It has been nearly five years since Swire Properties announced plans to build Brickell City Centre, and the first tenant is about to move in.
Akerman, which is Florida’s largest law firm, will move in to an office building over the weekends of Feb. 12 and 19, according to the DBR. A temporary certificate of occupancy was issued by the city last week.
Swire Properties is two to three months late on delivering the space, and they have compensated Akerman to remain in their old offices during that time.
160 lawyers and 114 staffers will occupy the new space. Akerman is paying $45 per square foot for 110,000 square feet.
Update: A Swire representative says that the length of delay and compensation amount reported by the DBR is erroneous.
