Retail development is spreading around Brickell City Centre, with a new 12-story project at Brickell World Plaza the most recent proposal.
Brickell Financial Centre, LLC submitted the new plans to city planning officials this month, requesting modification of a previously approved Major Use Special Permit.
The developer intends to build a 12-story structure with 23,168 square feet of restaurant space, and 553 parking spaces. The restaurant space will be on the ground floor and include outdoor terraces, while the second floor will be destination retail.
The 12-story height is temporary, according to a letter from the developer’s attorney. A future phase will include up to 360 hotel units, 134 condo units, and an additional 770 parking spaces in a 904-foot tower.
The developer says that the new plan was designed with Miami 21’s urbanist goals in mind, and the new retail and restaurant space will feed off and add to the pedestrian activity generated by the adjacent Brickell City Centre.
