Brightline Adds Miami Into Schedule, Service Starts Within Weeks

Brightline’s new schedule which includes a Miami stop will begin this weekend.

Paying passengers will not yet be boarding in Miami as testing continues, but will be able to within a few weeks.

Testing has already been underway in Miami for a few weeks, but this is the first time that trains to Miami will be added to the regular schedule. In total, eleven departures per day between each city are planned.

Trains will take about 30 minutes from Miami to Fort Lauderdale, and another 30 minutes from Fort Lauderdale to West Palm Beach. An eventual West Palm Beach to Orlando leg will take 120 minutes.

trains have been stopping just shy of miamicentral station in recent testing:

Go Brightline!

Let’s see some pics of the new great wall of overtown.

Can’t wait for some Tri Rail stops in Midtown / Design District.

You might need to learn some patience and/or get dementia.

Why? The tracks, signals, intersections are all there.

Do you remember what a nightmare it was just for Tri Rail to get approval to use a heavily subsidized station at Brightline? You really think they’re going to build stations any time soon? Lol, might be better hoping for Brightline to take over the commuter line.

They’re waiting on approval from the FRA for the PTC system they’ll be using. Service is expected in 2018.

Don’t expect Tri-rail until sometime in 2019. They are waiting for the PTC to be installed.

They actually added quite a bit of landscaping to cover-up the ramp/wall. Looks great – definitely much better than what was there before! Progress…

They can park their butts at home.

You guys are just goading the anti-parking crowd.

Hopefully all the Brightline users will walk. That’s how a downtown is supposed to work.

Walk?
Where?
It’s too desolate and eerie.
For a city to be walkable it needs density.

I really wish the editors of this site would take all of these stupid comments off before they get to appear and take up so much of the space here. It seems to me that this has become just another site for people with no life to push their limited agendas and bitch. This was a great site to get valuable and interesting information on new and upcoming construction and design project in the Miami area. Now, every time I log in, all I read is this junk posted by immature jerks. Sad.

the article is the first thing you see, you scrolled down to read the open comments what did you expect? TNM use to be a open message board/forum untill this new lay out a couple years ago

Are you suggesting that I read the article and skip the comments? The article is only half of what this site has to offer as many people write interesting and insightful comments and opinions. I’ve learned a lot about what’s happening in Miami from comments written by people who offer diverse points of view without insulting anyone who disagrees. I like the comments where people post links to websites that support their point of view. I really love Miami. I’ve lived here for 52 years now and have seen the incredible growth and expansion as well as the mishaps. Back in the 70s when I was a teen I used to get mailings from the DDA about the stuff that is now discussed here. I like coming onto this site and do so often, but you must admit (unless you are the one I’m criticizing) that some of the comments have become a bit vulgar and childish.

It seem to me that you are exemplifying your own complaint.

I would not have written that comment if people who used this site behaved like adults and allowed others to express an opinion (regardless of merit) without resorting to insults. You have a great moniker “Live and Let Live”, but how many times have you read comments here where people call each other stupid, ignorant, ass and a bunch of other insults. I really do wonder who they are, and if they do it on purpose to get a response. I specially hate the racial crap. Is this what we visit this site for?

I enjoy the news just as much as the comments. I have no idea why you bother to scroll down if this bothers you. GO TNM!

If you really read the comments, as you say you do, then you would understand why I scroll down. Read my comment!

You don’t have to read the comments if you don’t want to.

Would be neat for someone who can do the math to figure out the probability of hitting a pedestrian on each trip based on past hits…

Look both ways before you cross railroad tracks.. it’s easy.

BDub

Lets take an example of someone trying to cross from West to East at NE36th Street as a north-bound train approaches.
Trains have a lot of Momentum (= Mass in kg x Velocity in m/s)
To stop (decelerate quickly), a large breaking Force must be applied over some non-zero time “t” (= Mass x Velocity/Time t)
If a person is on the tracks distance “d” away, if he or she is not able to cross the tracks in less than time “t”, that person’s relatives may claim the body in Little Haiti.

Heck, let’s make it simple. These same people who have been killed by the Brightline train are the same people who were too afraid to just walk out in traffic and get hit by a car.
