Brightline provided a construction update yesterday to investors in the $600 million in Private Activity Bonds that funded the project’s first phase.
For the first phase of the MiamiCentral station (already mostly open), the Parliament Coffee shop is now complete, and is ready for the operator to open. There is ongoing punch-list work, with 1200 of 1750 items completed.
Efforts are now focused on the second phase south of 6th street, which will be home to restaurant and retail space. Rough-in and framing work is ongoing there and will continue through August, and a chiller is operational as of July.
Ongoing rail infrastructure work includes the upgrade of various crossings to 79 miles per hour, Positive Train Control field pre-testing from Miami Station to Overtown, and Quiet Zone completion in Broward.
