Brightline Doubles Miami-Orlando Train Service To 30 Per Day

Brightline has doubled the number of trains operating between Miami and Orlando.

The company completed construction of the new rail line over the summer, and began operating service two weeks ago with 8 daily trains.

Beginning today and on, there will be 30 daily trains operating between Miami and Orlando (15 in each direction), with trains departing in both directions on an hourly basis throughout the day.

The first train leaves Orlando at 4:38 a.m., arriving into Miami at 8:11 a.m. The final train leaves Orlando at 8:54 p.m. The first train leaves Miami for Orlando at 6:41 a.m., arriving at 10:19 a.m. with the last train leaving Miami for Orlando at 9:41 p.m.

Additional early-morning and late-night trains will operate between Brightline’s five South Florida stations.

Maybe the first train to leave Miami should be 4:38 instead of 6:41

Why isn’t there a Miami Beach/Moss Tackles Metromover Extension connected to Edgewater OMNI MDX Station & Downtown Miami/Brickell?

bc we need less freeloaders

Transit isn’t freeloading. Transit is for community development instead of pseudo production from pretenders pretending to be useful with infertile comments instead of contributing to social improvements.

Free electric beer cans buses aren’t going to do anything to take cars off the road, nor contribute to social improvements.

Idk but it’s a no-brainer. The system is elevated so traffic isn’t impeded, it’s frequent and cost-effective because the cars are automated, and it’s free so ridership is through the roof. The metromover is our subway system and an iconic Miami landmark.

Sales Taxes are only generated via conventional or convenient and safer transit loops not freeloading innuendos.

A system used for short distances in airports designed to make tire companies rich, compared to a subway system? That’s funny.

Miami has done a fantastic job repurposing it for mass transit. The metromover has a daily ridership of 22,000!! That is 22 thousand less cars on our streets daily. It performs better than some actual light rail systems and can continue performing if invested in.

That’s low it used to be over 32,000 in 2014 and should now be double that around 40,000.

Yes Metromover is falling out of favor even as downtown’s population increases, but these free ride clowns want more of it.

Needs to add Downtown Miami Shopping Outlet and Movie Theater with Hotel alongside an expanded train station to match patron needs and make consumers happy!

Adding a few more Supercenters at Downtown area near I-95 would also help!

DTM didn’t forget!

Meantime other vendors or merchants can benefit from 8th St radius of NW 2nd – 3rd Ave having superstores next to DTM shopping outlets to implement others.

I remember when Brightline had 5 car trains and 30 minute service during the afternoon rush hour. They now have 4 car trains and hourly service during rush hour. The result is that instead of paying $15 from Miami to West Palm Beach in Smart class. The fare is now $69 because only premium is available.

They were offering that level of service because they had extra trains and coaches. Now that Orlando is running, they had to go back to their original setup, but they do have more coaches on order.

The typically run a successful Polar Express train with at last 7 coaches during the holidays. How can they provide that service with the current rolling stock?

I suspect they needed more capacity during the peak season, winter months and will probably do it again later this year (early next year). They also have 20 passenger cars on order that’ll start to arrive in 2024.

Why is there no late night trains to get people back and forth between the west palm, Fort Lauderdale, and Miami stations for those going out and wanting to take the train home instead of Ubering?? Clubs stay open until 2/3am and there are no trains to get people home

Inter-city train service doesn’t revolve around ravers.

There most definitely is a gap – if you take a train from Miami to Fort Lauderdale to go out – the last train on a Friday or Saturday night is like 11 pm. The first train coming back the next day (Saturday or Sunday) is almost 7 am. Please add additional routes between the cities to accommodate those who don’t want to drive or pay outrageous Ubers between the cities – that’s what this train is supposed to be for – connecting the cities and keeping cars off the highway. Give the people the access they need and people WILL use it.

When they run to Tampa they’ll be facing the same issue needing a late night train on weekends between Ybor City Tampa and Orlando. The Tampa Streetcar runs until 2am on Saturday nights BL will need to offer late service too.

When they see enough dedicated ridership between those two stations I’m sure I’ll happen (after they get a couple more trainsets next year). When it happens, it’ll only be a 3 hour trip!

The FRA (Federal Railroad Administration) is limiting them to 90 MPH in the 110 mph zone for a while. I don’t know about the 125 zone or other locations – certainly possible there. I’ll be a gradual ramp up.

Fern

On the section between Cocoa and Orlando they do run at 125 MPH

You can have falser service to and from Orlando and back if Brightline expands the operating speed up to 150 mph. It’s not rocket science!!!

Speaking of Amtrak there was talk about them running into MIA. They had run a test train into the Tri-Rail station there earlier this year (the test was successful). No one is talking about it anymore.

Fern

Amtrak trains are a lot heavier than Brightline’s or Tri-Rail’s. They’d have to test the viaduct to see if it can fit

Anonymous

There is no viaduct at MIA (Miami International Airport). The train station is on ground level, only Metrorail is elevated. When they originally built the Tri-rail station at MIA it was made to accommodate both Tri-rail and Amtrak although Amtrak never moved there (they said the platform was too short). FL fixed it and they successfully ran an Amtrak train to it earlier this year. This project is different from running Tri-rail to Miami Central via Brightline.
