Brightline+ Service Unveiled With Teslas, Shuttles, & Golf Carts That Will Bring You To Your Door

Brightline has quietly unveiled plans for a new transportation option called Brightline+.

The new ride sharing service will be offered in the Miami area, up to five miles from Brightline stations.

According to the Brightline website, a shared ride to and from the Brightline station will be offered for free, up to 3 miles away. Passengers will be picked up in a “luxury shuttle,” with Brickell and downtown Miami within range.

A premium, private ride will also be offered, up to five miles away. At that distance, parts of South Beach will be within range of the MiamiCentral station.

Brightline will have a fleet of Teslas, shuttles, and electric golf carts for the new service, President Patrick Goddard told WPBF.

Passengers will be able to book the new service in the Brightline app.

While the standard shared service will initially be free, there will eventually be a charge. However, it will be offered a reduced fare and will always be cheaper than ride sharing services, Brightline says.

Train service is planned to resume in November.

Very cool! A streamlined solution that is sorely needed!

No, if you are going to work you don’t want to arrive sweating from the hot sun or if its raining you don’t want to arrive wet. Anything that increases rideshare is a plus.

Lol. Go ahead and charge. I’ll just take the mover.

works either way!

I’ll laugh if Metromover is actually expanded and you be the first to complain when they start charging fares.

Several years ago the mover was reliable enough to take to MIA but recent experiences have been bad. Breakdowns requiring a technician to board the train to fix; long delays at stations. What is wrong with this city that aspires to “world class” status that they can not fix the train?

I like this. I think this may encourage a lot more riders.

“While the standard shared service will initially be free, there will eventually be a charge”

And how long will that be”

Are you planning a trip now?

The free shuttle will start charging on June 13th, 2022 at 7:41pm EST.
(Subject to change)

“I’m going to provide you a valuable service for free”

“Yeah….but…but…when are you going to stop giving it to me? Some day you will make me pay for that something of value.”

“Ummm …yeah.”

Yeah.. in case you don’t understand, that’s “teasing me” but won’t “please me.”

Is the service extended to the surrounding areas at the destination?

eg: it’d be cool if I BL from Miami to WPB, I shuttle to the station, and I shuttle to the WPB courthouse. Set one pickup location, one destination, and BL does the rest, with a shuttle/car waiting to get me to the final destination so long as its within the specific area provided.

???
The Brightline station in WPB to the courthouse is a 5 minute walk.

Anonymous

And some days it rains. Some days its too hot to walk. Some days you’ve got a laptop, briefcase, and file cart. Some people are disabled, elderly, or simply can’t walk a good distance. You dont really make a cogent point.

Moreover, its just an example to express an idea: will I be able to coordinate my day’s trip through an all-in-one transportation app hub?

It would be pretty cool if Brightline could figure out how to streamline it that well

This was the revolutionary announcement they were going to make in Q4? Really? Just an alternative Uber service. Wouldn’t it have just been cheaper to subsidize your customers Lyft/Ubers?

Anonymous

They were already doing this, I believe up to $15. A huge leak in their expenses.

Just extend the Metromover to the whole Miami, to the beach and within Miami Beach. Easy breezy! Stop coming up with all this nonsense that only congest the streets.

Anonymous

Look, you think too logically. The political powers that manage Miami don’t understand that concept.

Anonymous

If you think extending a low-speed system of one or two little cars at no charge is logical… Let me guess, a Nikki Fried supporter.

Anonymous

Lol.. but you have nothing right now to compare it to but your thought that the Metromover is to slow and the train cars are not big enough. Other than that, you’re just blowing smoke.

“Lol.. but you have nothing right now to compare it to ”
Ummm….yes. Uber is cheaper and more reliable and more direct.
Walking, city buses, Bird, Lime, Taxi Cab (remember those), are all options, and are all cheap.

Anonymous

^ Lol… except Uber, Lyft, city busses, taxi cabs, Bird, Lime, (and walking is moving faster?.. okay) can all get stuck in traffic. If they properly extend the Metromover, I’ll just take it and just whisk by you while you again cuss out the traffic jam that’s costing you gas money. And it’ll be much cheaper for me to do it to!

Anonymous

Or, maybe, just maybe, they do.
Maybe they listen to people who know that building a MM Extension isnt free. Construction costs and annual operating costs are expensive.

So one more mean of transportation on top of the many we have and are being proposed?!? How backward could this possibly be???

Anonymous

You’d be surprised…

Anonymous

It’s just a glorified taxi service. I’m sure you don’t say the same for rental electric scooters.

Anonymous

The shuttle service to nearby locations will work however, most people can do basic math. If it cost too much they will jump in their car. We will continue to see empty bright line trains.

Anonymous

Stop complaining. More transportation options are ALWAYS better. Everyone has different needs. Provide all possible options, subsidize them to encourage ridership, and connect them all together. Then build up the walkable TODs at each connection point with residential units and essential goods and services. Do literally anything but add more parking spaces or add more road lanes in the city. There’s mountains of evidence to support public transportation as a net cost benefit to everyone even those that don’t personally use it. If it requires short distance ridesharing in a car to get to the station then that is a necessary evil. How could anyone look at free seamless rides to/from the luxurious and smooth relatively high speed rail as anything but a win? People in South Florida need to recognize how lucky we are to have the Brightline down here and support any and all efforts to improve it.

Anonymous

Uber makes brightline completely irrelevant. The problem with South Florida is nobody thinks for 5-10 years in the future. They think in the present and past.

Anonymous

Well intended but wont last. Next year it will be free rides to prop up ridership. After that, the $$ they need to charge to be profitable, the public will not be willing to pay. Fingers crossed!
