57-Story Missoni Baia To Begin Construction In September (Updated)

Missoni Baia is set to break ground within two months.

A spokesperson for the developer confirmed to The Next Miami that groundbreaking is set for September. The exact date will be announced soon, but an August 15 groundbreaking date recently shared on social media by a broker is not correct.

City records show that a phased construction permit was issued on June 12, with Coastal Construction listed as the contractor.

When completed, the 57-story project is set to include 249 luxury condo units.

OKO Group, OB Group, and Cain International are the developers. Asymptote Architecture is the design architect, while Enea Garden Design is overseeing landscape.

a broker posted an august 15 groundbreaking date on social media earlier today:

Developers are transforming Edgewater neighborhood.

Well, it sure as hell ain’t going to transform itself without developers.

To what – so I can walk to The Daily and eat? Or the Target? The only good thing about Edgewater is the dog park.

Right now.. proximity to Wynwood, Midtown, Design District, Arsht center, Margaret Pace Park.. bike ride on Venetian Causeway to beach.. excellent Biscayne Bay views.. Stay tuned.. more to come as development continues…

No doubt, the area has nice bay views but the walkability isn’t very good.

Anonymous

Umm, every walkability metric begs to differ….

Anonymous

I agree
Unfortunately, it’s definitely not a walking area. It will take a couple decades b4 it’s further developed

Edgewater is not a walkable neighborhood. Go walk these sites and see for yourself. Almost none of the condo projects recently completed or under construction provide any retail space to change that either.

2500 Biscayne, 29 Midtown, Biscayne 27, 6 Midtown, the infill tower on 27th and the planned project incorporating the Grecian church thing–they all have significant retail portions associated with them, and that’s only what I can think of offhand. Plus, Biscayne Beach has restaurant space (and an open membership beach club), and Paraiso will have the beach club with a Michael Scwhartz restaurant.

What were you saying?

Stunning addition…wish I could afford to live there….

and that it was on the beach.

A lot of people would rather just stare at the water than swim in it.

Good looking Box!

Everything you’re going to live in is basically just a box no matter how it’s designed.

Is the developer planning to build out of pocket? No way this has 60% sold…

Anonymous

He has serious coin, could probably do it.

Hence the question…

Anonymous

Who cares, he aint’ bugging me for money to build it.

Anonymous

Who cares? The market…would speak volumes about his commitment to building in Miami and establishing himself as a legitimate developer here.

Anonymous

Still, the reply remains the same if he builds it or not, “who cares, he ain’t bugging me for money to build it,” and if he doesn’t, I won’t be losing any sleep over it.

You come to a website about development and developers and show no interest in a potential sign that a new developer is serious about entering the waters instead of being another Mana? Umm, ok, ya, I’m the crazy idiot for asking…my utmost apologies

If you’re the one asking “Is the developer planning to build out of pocket? No way this has 60% sold,” then what’s your point in asking us who read the same article on TNM like you did, an asinine question like that? No No No!!!…I have no interest or am I wasting my time on how this developer is going to come up with the money to build this thing…OK!!!

Geez…go chillout somewhere and have a beer dude.

Seriously? I’m not one to jump on an architectural soapbox, but this is definitely the “white box” most people complain about with Miami architecture.

I heard Hani Rashid, the Architect from Asymptote speak about the project at the launch party, I thought similarly to you beforehand, however after hearing him speak I think it is actually quite stunning. The renderings don’t do it justice, they have a scale model in the showroom where you can get a better impression of it.

Okay, but compared to projects like Thousand Museum, Echo, Grove at Grand Bay, etc., I’d think this still pales in comparison…

Anonymous

Yeah, good point.

I know I’m in the minority but I don’t think 1000 Museum is that good looking.

So minimalist, it makes a hipster orgasm until they see the price tag. Seriously though, I’m not a fan of hipsters or the architecture, but the “art” on the pillars is kind of off-putting. Why not go all the way like an Apple Store?

Anonymous

The “art” seems like some kind of Missoni pattern, for better or worse.

So basically, this is a bigger condo version of the Gaudi-esque “Miami Bay Waterfront Midtown Residences” the other side of the Julia Tuttle Causeway in Magnolia Park.
