Miami commissioners have approved zoning changes that will allow buildings with less glass at Miami Worldcenter, according to Miami Today.
The goal is said to be better energy efficiency, with increased stucco chosen to achieve that goal rather than improved glazing.
According to the text of the zoning changes approved for Worldcenter, “projects with an FLR up to 20,000 square feet may receive adjustments in glazing up to 80% to meet net-zero building standards.”
A rumored Apple Store currently in the permitting process could be a beneficiary of the changes.
Records show that a building with 16,629 square feet of retail is currently in permitting with Miami’s Building Department at Worldcenter.
Planning documents obtained by The Next Miami in April showed that renderings for a new building on the property included an Apple Store logo.
