Capital at Brickell Developer Celebrates Communist Party Anniversary

Executives of a developer working on the Capital at Brickell project took some time off to celebrate the 94th anniversary of the Communist Party of China earlier this month.

China City Construction Holding Group Company officials held an event at their headquarters on July 7 to commemorate the event, according to an account obtained by TNM. At the celebration, executives spoke of the need to uphold and maintain commitment to the Communist Party, while continuing to adhere to the party’s ideology.

Several key executives at the company got their start by joining the Communist Youth League, and continue as proud members of the party, according to the company’s website.

An affiliate of China City bought the Capital at Brickell site last year for $74.74 million. A mixed-use project is in the planning stages, which the company at one time said could be the tallest building in Miami.

The Communist Party of China was founded in 1921 and took control of the country in the 1940s after a civil war. Party ideology includes Marxism–Leninism and socialism with Chinese characteristics.

They’re just building a building, not taking over the city government… Although anyone is better than Regalado

Agreed, its just one building. Their ownership of large national construction companies like plaza construction is probably much more conflict-ive than one development.

Regalado might not be your choice for COM leadership, but the many Miami’ans that did vote for him would probably disagree with you.

I guess some people are unaware that there has been a communist party in the US for decades. I don’t support their ideals but I do adhere to ours which allow for freedom of expression among other things.

Sure this country allows freedom of expression, as long as your expression doesn’t offend someone who has authority and power.

Easy to celebrate communism with Dry Martinis in Brickell’s Financial District. 😂

Great. A building in the US promoting, recognizing and celebrating Communism and atrocities they commit against their own people in China. It’s sad Miami will be home to it.

So would it make you feel better if they committed atrocities against other people instead? And please, read a book on the history of the USA sometime.

They do that, too. How sad that political correctness has reached such an extreme that we can’t even take a moral position against communism. If you truly believe that there is a moral equivalence between Chinese and American behavior abroad, I question your value system. I am the first the admit that we have a host of mistakes to atone for.. Racism at home, uneven treatment of Palestinians abroad, etc. but geez I still absolutely believe that the U.S. is a force for good in the world. China is mostly not. Read up. It is a dangerous, dangerous thing if we lose the confidence to stand up and call out the bad In the world because we aren’t perfect, which of course we never were. I wonder if you would have said the same in WW2? America did horrible things in the slave era so who are we to judge Mussolini or this Austrian fascist Adolf?

Sure, take your moral position against communism and I hope you feel better for it. Meanwhile, you had better get with the real value system between America and China, and that value system is “dollar, dollar bill ya’ll.”

If you find America so morally reprehensible and yet choose to stay a part of it, then you are the worst kind of man. Treasonous, hypocritical and lazy all in one. Quicker to defend China’s virtue than that of your own nation, you ought to display real courage and vote with your feet and abandon the place you don’t actually respect in favor of one that better reflects your values and aspirations. There are plenty of people that would love to take your place.

I bet you are one those people who waves the flag of the USA in one hand while clutching your Hyundai, Toyota, or Honda car keys in the other.

Hopefully the CCCC will build a building with jazz and of architectural significance. Something that has been missing in most recently constructed buildings.

Mao Zedong, Chinese communist party founder, famously said, “political power grows out of the barrel of a gun.” These guys have to celebrate lest the gun be pointed at them.

Communism is already in this country, it’s just in forms and ways that you can’t recognize.

“This is what we are bringing into our county.”

Um, it was Richard Nixon who went and courted the Chinese, so don’t knock them.

County, not country. Local brokers are courting the Chinese.
