Christian Louboutin’s New Design District Store Is Covered With Tree Bark

In the Design District, the facade of the new Christian Louboutin store is clad with… bark.

The company is known for using wood bark in their stores throughout the world, including their Aventura branch.

See how it handles the tropical climate. There are some timber-framed historic buildings that have survived humidity and wind and heavy rain.

it should be fine, it’s wood bark so it should be comfortable outside and as far as the hurricane winds are concerned, so long as it is mechanically fastened it should hold. The company is called “Bark House” but could not find an NOA for this product.

Somehow that will be the only facade that survives an eventual hurricane.

Right?? I hate when people here complain about Bal Harbour or Design District being empty. The point of these areas is for a luxury shopping experience. Not a bunch of preteens on dates and bargain shoppers haggling for discounts. If you cant afford it, don’t come. Trust us, we wont miss the crowds.

This is very unique and could only work in Miami. Other cities in U.S. have nothing like this! Things like this is why Miami stands out more than NYC or Chicago in peoples minds around the world. in other big cities all they have are boring brick building after boring brick building. Exciting times for Miami.

What an astonishly stupid comment. Have you ever been to Chicago or New York? The architecture in either city is light years better than painted concrete block Miami. Get a design life man.

The buildings in those cities are old so of course they aren’t going to look like the sleek futuristic looking buildings in Miami. They were built using different materials so which ones looks better is in the eye of the beholder. Miami is a city of the future not stuck in the past. As far as urbanity goes all 3 are on the same level but most people around the world would probably say Miami looks ascetically more pleasing as is more vibrant overall.

Another astonishingly stupid comment. There are far more new buildings in Chicago and New York than in Miami and many are far more “futuristic” than the cheap painted concrete block towers of Miami. Wow, and you as one person are able to determine what most people around the world think about Miami.
