Cinemex Movie Theater At Brickell City Centre Expected To Open By The End Of 2016

Update: The opening of the theater has been delayed into 2017.

Only a few stores at Brickell City Centre are actually open now, but that should be changing within the next few weeks.

Mall employees say that the Cinemex movie theater is expected to open by the end of the year. It would become the only theater in Brickell.

In addition, several restaurants are expected to open by the end of November, which will bring more foot traffic to the mall. The opening date for the Italian food hall is unknown.

Employees aren’t sure how much it will cost to self park in garage (parking remains free for now.)

the italian food hall will be located in the north block, which remains completely closed for construction:

cinemex theater will be located on the third level above saks:

the parking garage is being equipped with park assist to eliminate the need to hunt for a spot:

“the parking garage is being equipped with park assist to eliminate the need to hunt for a spot”.

But the hunt for parking is the fun part. 🙁
It helps to sharpen and fine tune the senses.

It’s all fun and games until some ratchet lady sends her 10 year old to go lay down in the spot so that she can swoop in and steal it from you.

I’m not sure if it’s anything significant, but “Italian food hall” was removed from the Brickell City Centre website both from the list of retailers and from the description of anchors. Does any insider have recent updates on whether it fell through or is it still in the works? Why is it still yet to be named?

It’s not removed. Now that they have a sponsor for the Italian food hall(eataly), they updated the food hall with the sponsor instead.

Where do you see Eataly listed?

That’s what I’d like to know too. Where is Eataly listed ?

why the mystery?? if it is an Eataly, wouldn’t they be advertising left and right?

Joe Bastianich and Batali visited Miami last week, i wonder if it has something to do with Eataly potentially opening in BCC

I think the Italian Market name is LA CENTRALE and it is listed in the website

I think you’re right, check out this trademark that was recently filed and with a status date of late October. Looks like we may have solved the mystery!

I don’t know what happens with Swire. Who needs three stories of Italian food. Miami is a diverse city. Why not bring that diversity to their food court.. Oh sorry. The BCC is so fancy that it cannot have a normal food court.

Park assist should be at parking garage in Miami Airport.

Happy 2017! Did the theatre open or another missed deadline. They should have
Put in a Macy’s for more consumer traffic. the anchor store they have is for millionaires.

Resident. I agree 100% with you. Brickell residents are not that rich. There is a mixture of young residents and professionals. How many of us, Brickell residents, can buy at Saks’ prices. A Macy’s anchor store would have been more appropriate. I don’t like this mall.

Parking garage is VERY tight on space with awkward placement of columns. Will be interesting to see how it handles the load when they’re fully open.

Load? Plenty people to support the place that don’t need to drive. Now the question is if those people will actually walk/bike/metro/etc

Maybe BCC will help people become less car reliant

Marc
Marc

Let’s not act surprised. People will 110% be driving here from Icon Brickell and the like. Need to show off the wheels, and can’t risk breaking a sweat and ruining the makeup during the 2 block walk!

True.. maybe not now, but wait until heat begins again in mid-March… not a lot of women in heals will be walking more than a block.

Marc

They’re all so spoiled. In Rome Italian women walk a mile in heels on cobblestone streets.

Says the GUY, who has never worn heels a day in his life. Insert eye roll. I want to see you walk half a block in heels and in heat.

I will personally take the Metromover, I could walk there too depending on the weather. Hope they open the direct access from the Metromover to the mall soon, that will be great.

I don’t know if it’s significant, but City Centre removed “Italian food hall” from their list of retailers and from their description of anchors. Does any insider have an update on whether a deal has indeed been struck? If so, why hasn’t the retailer been named? Is it a La Rinascente Food Hall, an Eataly, or a Harrod’s Food Hall? Or is it a whole new concept being done by Saks (separate from their anchor store?)

The food market is going to be by the people behind Casa Tua Restaurant…not sure if that is good or bad; i had never been to Casa Tua

Marc
Marc

The Casa Tua market is simply a part of Saks. Has nothing to do with the food hall

With the parking continuing to remain free, it’s a combination probably of them trying to get you “hooked”, just like new radio stations with no commercials for a while, and of course the place only being partly open. Also the MM 8 St third floor connection is still closed. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s opening, charged parking, and some more stores opening, all coincide.

I do wonder what will become of this “temporary” Looking grassy knoll, would love to see a synthetic turf with usb plug ins and eco seats/lounge accessories.

Okay, the update on the theater says something about 2017 (which started back on Jan. 1st). Any clue when it will actually open?
