CitizenM Hotels is asking the city of Miami for approval of their plan for exterior artwork at their hotel planned for Miami Worldcenter.
Public artwork is a condition of the hotel’s approval by city planners.
Playful toy sculptures made of fiberglass are proposed as the artwork. The cost is budgeted at $260,000, with design by Samuel Borkson and Arturo Sandoval of FriendsWithYou.
Citizen Miami Worldcenter will include include 351 rooms in 12 stories, with a construction cost estimated by the company at $68 million. CitizenM has already purchased the site at Worldcenter’s Block F East.
Miami’s Art in Public Places Board is scheduled to review the proposal at a May 20 meeting.
