The City Inn next to I-95 has been an abandoned shell for years, but is now being renovated.
Signs on the property at 679 NW 79th St. say that it will become a Holiday Inn. Crews have been doing interior work and installing new windows.
The property was built in 1969 as a Holiday Inn. It became a Days Inn in 1986, and City Inn in 1990 before being abandoned. It has a a history of filth and violent crime, but the owner hope that the new hotel will spark a rebirth for the area.
