City Will Lose A Year Of Rent From Skyrise Due To Regalado Lawsuit

The developer of Skyrise says that a lawsuit by Norman Braman and Raquel Regalado has triggered an “unavoidable delay” to construction.

A letter from the developer states that third parties “were not willing to move forward without certainty on the outcome of the afore-mentioned lawsuit.”

Under the terms of the property lease with the city, lease payments may be deferred for up to a year under force majeure.

The developer will now defer rent payments for up to a year, with payments to begin on September 24, 2019 (unless the project opens before then).

Never liked her, never will.
Raquel Regalado wants to be a show off and all she does is stand in the way of the city’s progress.

Nice job Norman Braman and Raquel Regalado! Total lack of vision.

How does this affect Regalado and Braman? If you don’t like it, don’t go! Tibor Hollo and Norman Braman are about the same age but could not be any more different, one is reshaping Miami and the other opposes just about everything to reshape Miami. I personally hope it gets build, the sooner the better.

I don’t understand why so many people hate this project. I like it a lot. Maybe the R shape isn’t that great but I like a lot all the stuff that it offers and I think the location is perfect. A super high rise in that spot that’s a observation deck too will look amazing in the miami skyline.

People like Braman and Regalado are why we can never have nice things in Miami and in a quicker time too.

I hope this project starts construction soon and gets build by 2021.

Nice to see all the positive comments in favor of this thing. Where have all the haters gone?

Not sure why they are still attacking this project? Originally it was over public funds that are no longer going to be used. So now what is the lawsuit all about?

Why did the wind turbines mysteriously disappear?

Architects are Putos too

This project was at first for wind turbines in a non specific location and was also going to be powered from geothermal energy. However, Berkowitz was introduced to it, he saw the potential with General Growth Companies at Bayside who has the lease with the City and made this all about entertainment. Miami bought it, saw this as a nother way to get more $$. Berkowitz threw out the original energy components. The design of the hair-pin was based completely on engineering principles for a project that would add to the energy grid. Berkowitz in his re-spinning went to the go-to architects, Arquitectonica to take the design and push it through. Arquitectonica changed nothing and have been passing it as their design ever since . The cost will be north of $400M and the fees substantial, a slam dunk for Arq.

Lol money is so powerful. Why is anybody surprised? I’m in no way against this project but money battles will insue when the city officials and ultra rich are involved….

Good! I wish they would ax it completely. That tower is going to be a cancer on the city. The last thing is climate challenged city, mass transit challenged city needs is another empty pointless tower.
