Great looking tower that stands out from the rest of Miami’s towers.

It will be one of the most aesthetic and creative edifices in Miami. Bravo for helping to offset the drab Brickell landscape

Transformative development both in terms of design and community improvements for the Brickell neighborhood!

Can someone abolish the UDRB? They voted against the beautiful new redesign of Smart Brickell because it was too nice for a small lot… and not the same language. It seems they are trying to really dumb down the design for their own self interested goals. Abolish UDRB or select new members!!!!

While three members praised the beautiful design, here is what the other three members ODDLY and disingenuously said…

Board member Anthony Tzamtzis said, “It’s a lot of building for a very small site.”

Board member Gia Zapattini said, “There is a missed opportunity to do something special in the corner. It looks strange … it’s not the same LANGUAGE, seems out of place.” (Is it not hacienda enough? This is Brickell.)

Mr. Fernandez said the third building and podium were designed differently on purpose, to make a distinction from the first two buildings.

He told the board, “We tried to get away from the West Brickell stucco look … it is different. That was done to be different. We were attempting for it to be an improvement.”

I guess some people in the UDRB don’t want improvements they want property. Boooooooooooo! They should rethink this or go 👎

Corrupt UDRB

Yet rhe UDRB allowed another stucco block at Empire Brickell which is nowhere near as special as Smart Brickell – it seems totally arbitrary and corrupt. So upset with the UDRB!

With so many new residential units, we are going to need a Trader Joe’s or Whole Foods on Avenue of the Americas (sw2nd) once this is up!

Does anyone know what’s going in the retail space at One Broadway? I heard it was going to be a grocery, but that rumor was long ago and probably stale.

We-need.
Amazingly…I’ve lived and worked and somehow survived in Brickell without a Trader Joe’s (the Etsy of supermarkets) for over 30 years, and suddenly, the We-needs are demanding one lest all civilized society end.

I’m not saying that people under 30 are soft little daisies, but most of your wants are not close to needs.

Wake up and smell the pot of joe. The Brickell from 30 years ago, where residents accepted a singular Publix, is long gone. There are thousands of new (and young) residents and we want more options than Publix.

The Brickell front is becoming epic! Glad to see a picturesque western skyline evolving. It will be a postcard worthy for people arriving from MIA, Broward and Palm Beach, and across the USA!

Hoping they put a tennis court or beach volley ball court in Southside Park! Brickell has basketball courts, soccer fields and baseball field. I think new sporting options are welcome and would do well here!

At least the first level of underground excavation should be easy since this is on the Brickell ridge.

The City of Miami should add “Avenue of the Americas” to SW2nd signage… like Beethoven’s 9th Symphony Street.

No chicken bones on this excavation???

No. This development incorporates a park, so neighbors won’t pretend to care about ancient “artifacts.”

One thing I don’t get, is why is every tower adding office space while the rest of the country is spelling doomsday for office? Do we really need that much office space in every building? Why not a higher mix of apartments and retail?

Anonymous

I think Miami office space market is doing better than other parts of country because it’s more enjoyable place to live and work. Also a lot of the offices here are offering shared or hybrid work options where people can spend part of the time working at home or in other cities.

Been taking forever for this project to literally get off the ground

Some projects are detail oriented and take time to develop a top tier product of this magnitude…

Been under construction for like 2 years. Just like the 11 towers and Legacy. By the time these get off the ground, pretty much every large city in the US will already have a topped off super tall. They’ll probably still be piling the Waldorf by then. Like watching grass grow, literally.

Maybe you’re thinking of the proposals? Literally just started a few months ago and moving fast.

Note to Charles- Edouard: the building could be worse, it meets a lot of demand, the pedestrian experience is fair and the property will generate extra taxes, so I’m for it. In order to save you the tortuous experience of increasing disillusionment over months, might as well swallow the bitter pill now: this country doesn’t give a damn of how any building looks like from a helicopter or from a quarter mile away.

This tower looks iconic in the arial shot. It’s marvel is unlike anything in the skyline.

I see that most of you love this tower. And Im glad that a lot of people like it. To me it is very ugly. It is like if they were trying too hard.

It looks worldly and sophisticated. Reminds me of United Nations Park in Lima or Vertical Living Gallery in Bangkok:

Monstrous, gigantic, mastodon, building, that would benefit with some set backs and smaller, proportionated structures as it goes in hight. Just because a bunch of rectangular structures are one on top of each other and in different angles does not mean there is beauty on this high-rise….the building bring no harmony to the nearby dwellings. if something come to mind, looking at this nightmare of basic architecture is the Gigantic figure of a woman in fairs across latin America and Europe (La Gigante del Carnaval).
p.s… English is not my first language, architecture is my soul and my life…

Interesting! Your father’s modernist designs were trailblazing for the time and helped pave the way for more futuristic contemporary skyscrapers like this one. From a nearby dwelling, I think this broken scaled design will add more harmony than the heavy solid white clusters of concrete of the past, that add little depth or dimension, when overdone in a single location. Again much applause to your fathers work and contributions!
