Construction Officially Underway At 54-Story Miami River Tower In Brickell

Work is now officially underway to build a new 54-story apartment tower on the Miami River in Brickell.

According to a Notice of Commencement filed with the county last week, work began on the new 54-story apartment building known as Miami River.

The construction work now underway also includes a parking garage podium with amenities and ground floor retail.

Two outparcel retail buildings are also under construction, part of the project’s Phase 2, the filing says.

Also included in the current NCO are construction of a new seawall and selective demolition of an existing seawall; site demolition of existing buildings, tree removal; onsite and offsite civil improvements; a river walk; and hardscapes and landscapes.

Chetrit Group’s CG Miami River LLC & CG Miami River Owner LLC are listed as the owner.

G.T. Construction is listed as the contractor.

Kobi Karp is the project’s architect.

The project was granted a $310 million loan recently to begin building the first two phases.

Some people say Broward and Palm Beach is better than Miami and their lakes, golf courses, gated communities etc.. is better than our skyline…

Miami-Dade is Manhattan, Broward is Brooklyn/Queens, and Palm Beach is the Hamptons imo. There is no them vs us. Miami and Broward share the same economy so I don’t see the competition. The US census doesn’t even distinguish between us (Miami and Broward).

I wish they could use some of that infrastructure bill money to build a West Brickell loop/extension of the mover, but that ain’t never happening.

Agreed. But if the Mover is to be extended, I think it should first go to Midtown/Wynwood/Edgewater.

Agreed all those areas are developing rapidly af and they’re just outside walking distance.

Those areas are along a railroad with stops proposed within walking distance.

It’s a five minute walk, lazybones. Fun fact, nothing is going to happen with that infrastructure bill expect lining Cava Queen and company’s pocket and maybe a couple roads resurfaced if we’re lucky.

seriously, only small will happen. We literally increased taxes for Dade county for transit and we just got upgraded buses and a small metrorail extension.

What’s actually needed is a little Havana loop and an Omni/edgewater/wynwood loop

All I can say is thank God it’s not twin towers.
We have enough of those and it makes it more interesting to have different design buildings.

We must have the most twin towers in the world.

Why does everyone have such a boner for that tower? I don’t hate it, I just don’t understand what about it so special.

Most modern buildings that are built these days are basically glass boxes. I guess when a developer puts some interest in the design and aesthetics of a building. People like us that are into and understand what good architecture is take notice. We also appreciate that the developer demanded that the architect create an interesting design with some kind of crown. Knowing that if he built a glass box the sales would be comparable.

Which of the two towers going up first, the oval looking tower, or the one that has the same theme ad Waldorf Astoria?

Yes, it’s a little vague as to what is actually going on.

Whatever happened to River Pointe, that was a stunning project. They should revive it as well.

I feel like this project will have the same or better success as BCC. Being on the river and the addition of over 150,000 sqft of commercial space and the residents with two hotels, foot traffic will be there, not including near by guest coming to shop and visit! Really excited for this project

I love the curves in the design but something they must do all these new buildings with inanimate ground floor retail stores.
