Construction Permit Filed At 56-Story Edition Residences

A construction permit has been applied for to begin building the 56-story Edition Residences in Edgewater.

A separate construction permit to build a seawall has also been applied for.

A total of 187 residential units are planned in the 56-story Edition, along with a 13-level parking garage and 3,500 square feet of office, the permit filing states.

Total new construction is listed at 1,206,774 square feet, with an estimated hard construction cost at $215,750,000.

Coastal Construction is listed as the contractor.

Last month, the developers said they were expecting groundbreaking to take place this Summer after attracting $160 million in condo reservations.

According to The Real Deal, a handful of unit owners in the older 192-unit Biscayne 21 condo on the site set to be demolished are still fighting the plan.

The Edition will include 185 condos in a 649-foot glass tower designed by Arquitectonica.

A total of three towers are eventually planned on the property, according to a UDRB filing in March.

Two Roads is the developer.

Watching the number of cars parked at Biscayne 21 decrease by the day! Can’t wait to see it hit the ground.

Hard cost number is way off. Zero chance you can build this for $179/SF.

Good observation. It’s likely something no one will want to look at.

On another news site, I read today that some of the current owners are suing the association and the developers. How does this impact onset of demolition/construction, if at all? Anyone have an idea?

Money talks… they can sue all they want. One buy one, they will start accepting offers until none are left.

9 owners only. Looks like they have a very weak case. The plantiffs attorney’s complaint didn’t read well didn’t seem to address the specific merits of a unlawful condo termination.

Would be great to get some architects besides Arquitectonica making such permanent marks on our skyline.

I wonder if it’ll be shared with the two other towers

Yes, there appears to be sky-bridges connecting the towers to a general garage and amenity area across the street.

When you look at Okan and this, it is not hard to See the difference between a boring, lazy, uninspiring and an actual design

They are both beautiful. Okan is truly iconic but this is very stylish in its simplicity.

We don’t need anymore simple buildings in Edgewater after Missoni Baia.
