Some relief is on the way for the chronically over-congested lounges in the American Airlines terminal at Miami International Airport.
American Airlines has commenced construction on a project that will more than double the space of their largest lounge in the airport’s North Terminal, located at gate D-30.
According to plans obtained by TNM, the lounge space will increase in size from 28,292 square feet to 47,194 square feet. Seat count will go from 343 to 740, with new shower and dining areas,
Part of the expanded space will be allocated for a separate Flagship lounge. The plans show three distinct lounges, including an Admirals Club, Premium Lounge, and First Class Lounge.
MIA has a reputation for having high numbers of premium travelers, and the lounges throughout the airport are regularly overcrowded.
